Novak clearly knew he got completely outplayed.
That could have been a career destroying meltdown.

That’s a dream scenario match for Juan Carlos
Alcaraz wins in straights but still a massive learning moment too to teach. When a player has conceded let him. Carlos still young and was going MASSIVE on everything still. Just take the W

I've got tickets for the Round of 16 weekend on Ashe this year. $200 for the upper deck, but not insane like the semis and finals and should see some good matches.

I went before Covid. The best days to go are the beginning few days. There's so much action on every court so depending on your tickets, you can see pretty much everyone

That's when you should go. I went Labor Day weekend in 2018, then the semis last year. I had a blast at the semis, but the lines/crowds are so bad you basically have to miss four games if you want to get a drink/food or go to the bathroom. Even between day and night sessions, it was difficult to just get a drink. It's lower stress early in the tournament if you miss half of a set to walk around and there is more going on throughout the grounds. The Ashe tickets guarantee you get to see some tennis even if there is a monsoon.

Really fantastic win for Carlos — one of his best matches that he has ever played arguably. Controlled the match from the beginning and basically pushed Djoker around on most of the rallies. A pretty nervous blip to serve it out though, where he basically choked those champ points away. I agree with what others say that Djokovic had more or less conceded the match at that point, but Carlos really got tight. However, he was able to recover and get it to a tiebreaker, wherein he made some very nice shots to win it. It was important for him to recover like that. If you choke away a game like he did at 5-4 and then Djoker takes the set — you just never know how things pan out. Carlos probably still wins but who knows.
I think Novak’s lack of big matches recently and just his general form this season (which has still been very high, but not up to his typical standard) maybe caught up with him as well. He did a good job getting to the final considering he is coming off a knee operation and no one was sure if he would even play Wimbledon. But this matchup against Alcaraz has become a problem for him, and I think it will just become tougher to beat Sinner as well. I think he might still have one more major left in him if things shake out right and he can stay healthy.

Ticked Roland-Garros of the box last year (thanks to Pride for the ticket hookup). Thinking may get to NYC for the US this year.
Absolutely worthwhile.
