Really Chad? One is a season long award given to the best player in the L. The other is an award for one arbitrary game. In what possible scenario could outperforming the players on two teams in one game be more impressive than outperforming all players in the L over 16 games? Sports fans make me sad sometimes...

Does the average NFL fan remember Drew Brees being Super Bowl MVP over Peyton Manning being named the NFL's MVP? I'd think so.

It's a little unfair of a comparison cause most positions will never even be considered for NFL MVP, but guys like Desmond Howard and Dexter Jackson can be Super Bowl MVPs.

meh, it's pretty tough to play a position considered for NFL MVP, actually win the MVP, and then actually win 3 superbowl titles and never win superbowl MVP.

Really? Every time Manning's name is mentioned in print it has "Four time NFL MVP" before it.
Do you really think Big Ben or Mark Rypien has a better legacy than Marino? I wasn't alive in '84 and I could tell you thats probably the best year by a QB ever.

Marino will go down as the best qb to not have a ring aka super bowl mvp. That's marino's legacy regardless of his little mvp trophy.

Ego fuels all the great QBs, so i would think he wouldnt trade it for a ring because the records and accolades without the ring outweight having the ring without the records and awards.

Marino also didn't do his running game any favors by audibling out of shitloads of running plays in his day. Even with a potential elite back he still would've wanted to be the show IMO.

If you had the backs and o-lines he had, you'd audible to a pass as well.
I'm sure he would have traded one of his last 2-3 years for a Super Bowl a la John Elway. Then again, with Terrell Davis throwing up 3,800 yards and 35 touchdowns in two seasons, Elway was effectively a glorified game manager as a quarterback on the field.
