Venters had a 1.95 ERA in 83 innings last year.

Are the Braves the best team in baseball?

Legitimate question.

I think they'd beat the Phillies in a 7-game series. Boston, when healthy, is probably still better though. I think Atlanta wins the pennant at least.

continually using the same three relievers this much is seriously dangerous

Tell that to Fredi.

You have to trust the rest of your bullpen sometimes and just let them pitch. If you give up a run or blow a lead.. guess what? That's why you have an offense as well. No use going all out during the regular season if come October the best relievers in baseball aren't effective anymore due to exhaustion.

I agree. Moylan going down really threw a wrench in the gears though. If not for that, I don't think there would be many problems with O'Flaherty, Venters, and Kimbrel being overworked. I don't think Fredi makes good use of Sherill the vast majority of the time, which doesn't help much. If Proctor or Linebrink could just prove that they could do anything besides completely frick up a tight game, they would get more chances. Sometimes I do wish Fredi would put them in with like a 3 run lead though. Anything 4 runs or less though, he goes with EOF, Venters, and Kimbrel. It's like clockwork.

It's obvious the three are being overworked, but getting Moylan back will help a lot. But we do probably need to get one more reliable reliever. Sherrill is fine to go against lefties as well.

Yeah we've established that V isn't a rook. Anyone care to actually discuss the meat of my post?

ETA: there we go. Knew I could count on you guys

This could be the end depending on who Fredi goes with here.

You are all delusional, no doubt the Braves are great but no way any team is better than the Phillies right now. They're scoring runs again and their pitching is nothing short of unbelievable. Yes, I know the Bravos have good pitching too. If Oswalt comes back fully healthy it's really hard to see this team losing a playoff series for the sheer fact that we'd have the better starting pitcher matchup every single game.

Not really, no. He is swinging it pretty good right now, but he tries to do too much in pressure situations.
