frick a Phil edition

After a 6-1 homestand, the Braves head up to Philly for the last series before the all star break. The timing might be right, as the Braves are 9-1 in their past 10 and 14-3 over their past 17 games. This all leads to the Phillies lead in the division dropping to just 2 1/2 games.

The offense is starting to click a little bit scoring 5.3 runs per game over the last 7. Freeman has been on absolute fire hitting 4 homers in his last 4 games. It also looks like Uggla might be turning things around a bit. He's hit a couple homers in the last 3 games with 5 hits in that span. Over his past 41 AB's, he's hitting around .250. The offense is finally starting to head in the right direction. It just might take a simple move or two.

Now for the pitching matchups for the series(all times central):

Tonight(6:05) - Beachy(3.23 ERA) vs Halladay(2.44 ERA)
Tomorrow(3:10 on FOX) - Hanson(2.52 ERA) vs Lee(2.92 ERA)
Sunday(12:35 on TBS) - Lowe(4.21 ERA) vs Hamels(2.40 ERA)

Lineup:

Schafer CF
Gonzo SS
Mac C
Chipper 3B
Freeman 1B
Uggla 2B
Heyward RF
McLouth LF

I think the key to this series is tonight's game. If we can somehow get to Halladay and Beachy throws well, I like our chances to take 2 out of 3. If not, then I hope we can squeeze out 1 win and only be down 3 1/2 going into the break. Let's hope our offense continues to produce.

Let's do this shite

Damn, I wanted to start this (for the first time).

But I just bought my tickets for Wednesday September 7th... Braves at Phillies!

Stoked.

eta: Really hoping we clinch the East that night.

I know, I'm fricking pumped.

Doing an East Coast baseball swing with a couple buddies... Philly, down to D.C. and up to Balty, maybe an NFL game in there.

Does anyone else share my irrational hatred for Cole Hamels and want to win this one more than the other two?

You're facing the meat of the rotation and we're scoring runs. Not so fast my friends!

Cole seems like the most likable in the rotation?

That is quite the surprising person to hate. I mean, you've got Utley, J Roll, Cliff Lee. Hamels just makes no sense.

Well he said it was irrational

Its crazy that someone hitting .250 over the last 41 at bats sounds so promising.

A sweep puts us in first place heading into the break.
