Chipper has announced he will retire at the end of the season.

I think I will start planning the trip to ATL now for his last game at Turner Field. Let's send him out with a ring! No way Conrad can screw this one up.

This.

Even though it was expected, it's still tough to think about.

Looks like his last game at Turner Field will be September 30 vs the Mets. How poetic! The team that he owned for 2 decades. This will be good.

I went to Bobby's last game and honestly it was one of my most memorable Braves games.

Opening day when Heyward hit his first homerun was also a good one. Loudest I've ever heard the Ted.

There will be a press conference at 10:30 and the Braves and Chipper have discussed re-joining the Braves in some capacity after the year.

Could you see him becoming a hitting instructor or manager at some point?

Hopefully the guy we replace him with is less retarded than the one we replaced Bobby with.

I have a hard time picturing him as a manager. Definitely a hitting coach or hitting instructor though. I think that would be perfect.

It's definitely going to be something on the field. I can't see Chipper sitting in an office EVER

My favorite player.

I don't care how much everyone got frustrated with him, it will suck not seeing him penciled in everyday.

Don't you disgrace this fine young prospect with such slanderous insults.

If you take his high A numbers over 162 games, he would easily have 65 HRs, 75 doubles and 230 RBI. Quite simply one of the greatest seasons in baseball history.

Will he need Larry Sr. by his side when he's giving instructions on hitting?

On a serious note, do you think he'll be ready for the show next year? Obviously he's got good pop.

What about Salcedo?

Or does Prado shift down there and we bring in someone to play LF?

It's encouraging that Terdoslavich has smoked every level thus far.

His progression reminds me of Pastornicky, except he has put up better numbers than Pastornicky did. I think you will see him in AAA around the mid point of the year.

This is the other option, and depending on how Terd does, he will probably get traded next offsesaon IMO. Or he could stay and play LF again. I was really hoping to trade for a young CF this year that could take over in 2013, and we could use all of our money to sign a LF. So you either get rid of Prado and have 20M+ to find both outfielders, or you keep him around for one more year and try to find a CF somewhere.

We REALLY need to find a way to acquire a young talented CF that can start next year, somehow someway.

I agree.

Definitely. It's worse now than it was when we had Schafer in the hopper. At least then we had a body we could try. Right now we're looking at fricking Constanza out there.
