If Rasmus is worth acquiring he's not available. The Cardinals know what they're doing.

I read that yesterday... I dunno.

I go back and forth on the issue... the guy is 24/25.

The Cards have a playable replacement in John Jay, so that makes Rasmus moveable.

I don't think Rasmus is a star quality player, but I do think he's basically a better Nate McLouth. Which would be an upgrade in our lineup.

Also, there's some talk of Toronto having interest in moving Rajai Davis...

He's cheap, and under contract with a club option till 2013.

He had a slow first half, but he's got speed to burn. He's 30, so not exactly young. He also hardly ever walks, but he's a career .300 hitter second half.. so we could have him just in time. He's also a decent CF.

Another moves I'd love to see us consider:

-If the Orioles can't agree with J.J. Hardy, I'd love to formulate some package of AGon + prospect for Hardy/Uehara. Hardy will get a raise (I think he's making like 5.5 this year), but he's in his prime and can hit. Uehara is the RH reliever we need.

Both of those guys have been discussed a little bit

I'm not a Rajai fan. I'd prefer someone who got on base more, if they were to bat at the top of this lineup. Saying that, I'd be more than willing to trade for him after all other options are explored. As you said, his salary is cheap, he won't cost much at all in terms of prospects, and more importantly, he's an offensive upgrade at the position.

I'd love the Hardy deal, particularly to get Uehara. As you said, it wouldn't cost much since Hardy will be a 2nd half rental, and we would have Uehara for next year after his option vests.

both moves would be upgrades at the position, and wouldn't cost much in terms of prospects

If we get Hardy and have no intention to resign him, who's the 2012 opening day SS?
