Jason Heyward keeps being awesome. I will pick him to win MVP again next year.

Who do y'all think catches more games in 2015, Gattis or Bethancourt?

And I guess we'll be seeing La Stella soon.

2015? I'd have to roll with Bethancourt.

Kinda funny to see this Heyward deal play out. Almost all the regulars on this board have wanted him to lead off all year and he finally does and goes HAM.

Jason Heyward in leadoff:

.371/.443/.586 with a 1.029 OPS.

Also, Andrelton Simmons dWAR: 4.5

Number of players with a 4.5 dWAR or higher since 1920?

4.

Brooks Robinson (4.5) - 1968
Mark Belanger (4.9) - 1975
Ozzie Smith (4.7) - 1989

Simmons may be having the greatest defensive season in baseball history.

I would guess his performance will fall somewhere between his scorching May and his so-so July:

May: .317/.362/.683 with a 1.045 OPS.
July: .263/.276/.333 with a .609 OPS.

In other words, a pretty good player.

Simmons needs to learn how to be a contact hitter who occasionally get XBH. If he does that he could be really really damn good.

If he could just cut down on the pop ups it would be great. And know that if you're in the position to move runners over, or even get RBIs, you don't hit it straight up. Even a good groundout to first can move a runner from 2b to 3b about 100% of the time.

I don't really care why Simmons does at the plate to be honest considering how many runs he saves in the field on a weekly basis.

Anything he does at the plate is just a bonus.

Simmons makes a ton of contact. His problem is he needs to be more selective and make better contact, which I'm not sure is something he'll ever do consistently.

He will always make a ton of contact. If he stays the same hitter he might fluke his way into a .280-.300 batting average a few times.

I guess what I meant was be more of a singles/move runner guy. maybe not swing as hard? I'd like to see him in the two hole if he starts moving runners.

Yeah, that play where Janish slid and stopped the ball and couldn't even throw it to 2nd in time to get the lead runner last night, Simba would have made it into a DP and it would have looked easy.
