if there are no outs and a runner at first heyward would have automatically been out.
Yeah I knew that part. My question was if Heyward was safe, which he almost was, could Bourn have advanced home and scored to tie the game (as it looked like he did). I don't think anyone understood my question except you.
Dear Broski,

frickin' terrible at bat Heyward
I have started to notice a trend with him, so I looked to see if the stats backed up my impressions. Unfortunately, they did. He is awesome with no one on. With runners on his productivity goes down. With RISP it's even worse. With the bases loaded he is abysmal.

Thanks for posting that. I was just thinking that I haven't seen him perform well in a clutch situation lately. When Prado had two strikes, I still felt good about him putting it in play. When Heyward got in the same situation, I just knew he was going to K. I would have much rather had Chipper or Freeman up there in that situation.

It's a live ball, Bourn could advance.

7. The best trade deadline pickup may have been ... Paul Maholm?
Maybe the Braves got the best Cubs pitcher being shopped around. Maholm's record since June 29: Eight starts, eight runs allowed. He's pitched in obscurity for years in Pittsburgh, often with some terrible defensive teams behind him. He doesn't light up the radar gun but his strikeout rate has ticked up a notch this year, perhaps because he's throwing his slider with greater frequency. Oh, another note: Mike Minor, much-maligned by Braves fans in the first half, has a 1.99 ERA over his past five starts.
