So you're evaluating players by who gets MVP votes?
ETA: Maybe you're trolling.

i blame fricking Lobster for this bullshite series. twice he started a thread with no lineup in it. coincidentally we lost those two games, plus the middle game.
For the rest of the season, don't start a damn thread without THE lineup posted.

No. I think you're just butt hurt your team can't get RBIs.
Posted on 5/1/14 at 10:22 pm to cheesesteak501
I don't think I am. I think we were talking about who is better between Stanton and Heyward and you think RBI and MVP votes mean that Stanton is better.

no one wants to answer the question?
i'd probably choose Stanton

Well then, Heyward has more. So he is clearly the better player.

That doesn't make any sense because RBI get MVP votes.

you said defense is half the game and I said MVP voting isn't half defense. Stanton is better than Heyward cuz he has way more homeruns and a better average. And he has more RBIs. Stanton has a better arm too.

So once again, you're using MVP votes to determine who is truly a more valuable player. And once again, you think RBI provide a useful measurement of a player's worth.
Also, you can't say that defense isn't important, then cherry pick arm strength as part of your argument that Stanton is a better player.

I really don't think it is. Heyward

It is, but I'm confident in Stanton's rocket. Also a lot of people like to think Stanton is some caveman in the outfield and can only hit, but like i've pointed out before he had a scholly to USC for football as a defensive back. He can move around pretty good.
Posted on 5/1/14 at 10:37 pm to cheesesteak501
I'd have to imagine if actually went to USC and played defensive back, his football playing weight would be a lot different than his current baseball playing weight. Besides that, the numbers show that Heyward's range is much better than Stanton's even despite the fact that Heyward plays next to a rangy centerfielder.
Posted on 5/1/14 at 10:39 pm to Patron Saint
no shite his range is better, Stanton is a monster.
Posted on 5/1/14 at 10:42 pm to cheesesteak501
That doesn't change the fact that Heyward's range is better. That would be like putting Pablo Sandoval in CF and saying, "It's ok that he has no range. He's fat!"
And I bet you didn't know that they weigh the same even though Stanton is an inch taller. Actually, according to ESPN and Baseball Reference, Heyward weighs more.

because those are always accurate. Are you still trying to prove Heyward is better than Stanton?

More accurate than no information at all.

Heyward is way better at defense than Stanton. Stanton is better at hitting, but the offensive gap between the two isn't as big as the defensive gap. I don't think it can be definitively said that one is better than the other. I've provided a lot more evidence to support my point than you have. Your evidence so far has been RBI, MVP votes (of which Heyward has more), arm strength, and batting average. Three out of those four aren't respected as measurements for evaluating players and projecting their value, and the other one is based on your subjective opinion.

C'mon dude, Stanton is better than Heyward
Also Freddie Freeman is killing my fantasy team

Support that argument. You can pick a few stats and ignore the others to say that Stanton is better. You can do the same and say that Heyward is better. If you compare both offense and defense as a whole, they're remarkably similar in terms of the value they provide.
Stanton's skills are easier to appreciate because it is much easier to recognize offensive skill (especially when that skill is hitting monstrous home runs) vs. defensive skill, but that doesn't tell the whole story.
