I am all for that. Hoping there is no "cannot be sent down to the minors w/o his permission" clause in his contract

He has been up in the majors too long to option down to the minors. Once a player reaches 5 years of service time, they can refuse an assignment.

I was thinking more along the lines of a fake injury/rehab assignment.

For the riches we have apparently stupidly bestowed upon him you would think he would show enough gratitude and accept at least a month away from the team to get his head right.......

I don't hate the idea, but my concern would be if he gets sent down to Gwinnett and still can't hit (which would be a very real possibility, IMO), then he will probably be broken forever.
