Seriously? nobody thinks Heyward could regress to 2011 levels or worse? He drops his hands big time when he swings and he stands waaaay too far from the plate. You guys can't honestly think letting him stay in the lineup if he keeps hitting like this is the best move.

Let me know when he seriously injures himself for multiple months like he did in 2011.

And at you calling his .814 OPS, 120 wRC+, 6+ WAR season pretty good.

Hopefully so, I've liked his defense so far, and he at least has some sort of hitting ability, unlike Janish.

What do we do with Gattis when McCann comes back?

Just thinking about the short term it's such a luxury to have these two guys spell each other behind the plate and have a bat like that to pinch hit. The bat on the bench could be huge in big games at the end of the season. I can't wait to watch the season play out with both of those guys!

so what do we do with Laird? we don't have the room to keep all these guys

current roster:

C
Evan Gattis (keep)
Gerald Laird

INF
Blake DeWitt (will be gone)
Juan Francisco (keep)
Chris Johnson (keep)
Ramiro Pena (keep)
Andrelton Simmons (keep)
Dan Uggla (keep)

OF
Jason Heyward (keep)
Reed Johnson (keep)
Jordan Schafer
BJ Upton (keep)
Justin Upton (keep)

so we have Freddie, Mac and Janish coming back eventually...DeWitt is the only one I definitely see getting rid of...if we want to keep Laird, we move Gattis to 5th OF and send Schafer down; FF takes DeWitt's spot and we decide between Janish and Pena I guess

Keeping Laird just gives us so much flexibility with Gattis. We could use Gattis as backup C, LF, and 1B with Laird here, getting him in around 3 games a week at least with being primary pinch hitter on top of that. Without Laird he'll simply be backup catcher and get one start a week.

Gotta think Schafer will be the odd man out, barring a weird Reed Johnson trade.

Good eye. I wanna say I've seen that tattoo on someone else, but can't name him.

That pic cracks me up though.
