People also need to realize, to AA's discredit, that Fried was not going to be counted on to be our #1 or even #2 guy.
Ehhh... I don't know about that. It felt like it was pretty obvious heading into last offseason that Fried was always going to be #2 or #3 in the rotation behind Soroka's 1.
Fried started off last season really well and tapered off a bit. It was still dumb to put Folty over him in the postseason rotation (it was also dumb to hold Soroka to game 3, but that's another story).

I think when Soroka went down they thought the season was lost. They didn’t foresee us playing as well as we did and making a run. At least that’s what I tell myself.

I mean that was at the beginning of the season. By the time the deadline hit, we weren't sure if we were necessarily going to win the division, but we knew we were going to the playoffs.
To look at our rotation at that time which was Fried, Erlin, Milone, Anderson, Tomlin and say, "yeah, we don't need any moves" was stupidly ignorant.

We don’t have access to the info as it does.
Maybe he’s got a sore arm he’s not telling us about.

So is best case scenario that Bryse gets through the order once tonight with minimal damage?

I swear you guys have such revisionist history sometimes. fried had like 6+ ERA last September and Folty had a sub 2. It was not stupid at all to leave Fried out of the rotation. He run out of gas, and Folty looked to be in 2018 mode again, including his first start in the NLDS
regardless, S'go Braves

Folty was chased out after 4 innings in his last start of the regular season, GTFO with that bullshite.
Fried meanwhile, was throwing a shite ton of pitches, but didn't allow any runs in his final 2 starts.

Lol okay buddy. Your rationalization doesn't change anything I said. Fried had a significantly higher ERA even with Foltys poor last start.

They both had ERA's over 4.
And LOL at anyone that had confidence in Folty at any point last season. Do you not remember how scared we were heading into game 2.
Yeah Folty shoved that day, but no one in their right mind was expecting that.
I'm not saying Fried was some ace like he was this year, but I bet if you polled Braves fans at the end of the season last year, more would say they would rather Fried over Folty in the rotation.
But, by all means, continue to throw your stones from your "revisionist history" glass house.

Fried was running out of gas headed into the postseason last year while Folty was picking up steam, even though Folty has major head issues according to most of this fanbase.
That said, he would've started but the Martin injury scrapped that plan.

He definitely tanked in August, early september, but he seemed to be turning it around.

He was hella erratic, not just game to game, but inning to inning.

Huh? We brought Fried out of the pen before Martin in game 1.

It was just to give him work in preparation for a game 4 start before the Martin oblique.
But either way. 2.65 ERA in the last 10 GS vs a 3.65 ERA in the last 11 games and 4.81 ERA in the last 8.
Does Max's better mind cancel that out?

Ok, what about last 2 games?
What about full seasons?
We can cherry pick timeframes all you want, Folty was never the slam dunk obvious choice over Fried that you are trying to make him out to be.

We lost Keuchel (which, fair or not, in hindsight is an awful move)
I couldn’t disagree with this more. Keuchel isn’t helping anybody win a postseason game these days and I would want no part of that contract.
If we can get a true bullpen game with our top tier guys covering 7 innings+ either tonight or tomorrow I think we will win that game.

Keuchel was bad this year.

He had a 1.99 ERA in 11 starts this season. WHIP was 1.09 and his oppAVG was .218.
All of those were career lows.
He wasn't worth a 3-year/$55m contract though, because there's no way in hell he keeps that up.

His stuff doesn’t really play in the postseason imo. Not nearly enough swing and miss. Had a horrible start this year and was pretty bad for us last year in the DS. I would much rather rely on a $600k team control guy and 6-7 innings of electric pen arms than pay $55M for a guy who cant be relied on in October.

I would much rather the guy that doesn't give up 11 runs in the first inning so we can get to electric arms.
Kuechel isn't worth $55m but lets not act like we're pulling galaxy brain moves with Kyle Wright and Bryse Wilson starting in postseason games.
