I get the feeling that neither Chris Johnson nor Juan Francisco want to lose their jobs

Gilmartin hasn't had a good start to the year. Velocity is a little down from spring, more walks than strikeouts, 1.6 WHIP.

Does have a 1.69 ERA though

Still waiting for him to actually have a good major league start

? I am relaxed, just saying that Teheran isn't MLB material right now if he can't use his change and 2 seamer. If this 4 seamer and mediocre curve is all he's got, then Gilmartin needs a shot.

If he goes 5 innings and gives up 3 runs I'll be happy

yeah, he's not ready. I guess there's really nobody else who is though. Maybe Poveda? Damn, we're thin as frick.

Not really any more thin than most teams. Most teams 6th and 7th starters aren't very good unless they happen to have a dynamite prospect who is almost ready.

True, in this circumstance. But in no way is that acceptable long term. A 5.40 ERA is fricking awful.

Well he's got what, 3 MLB starts? He's not a power pitcher so it's not like we should expect him to dominate right away. He'll be fine
