You simply can't be a perennial contender if the only big contracts you give out are buying off arb years of guys already on your roster. You have to at least do some amount of spending on the FA market
This frustrates me in parts and is understandable in parts imo.
If AA doesnt want to dish out massive amount of money to starting pitchers in free agency im actually okay with that (which is why I was in the let Fried walk camp) mostly im sure there is some nuance here but the thing with pitchers is for almost all of them its not if they get hurt and miss tons of time its when, especially for starters.
What does frustrate me is refusing to even make competitive offers at low injury risks load bearing positions for your team like SS. CF is another one that looked like we were tetering into going into a very bad place with harris for like 1.5 years but he has totally turned his entire game around and is a legit superstar now. 1B we are stuck with Olson which is fine he has been worth his contract by WAR value every year hes been on the team.
I was very satisfied he spent on Suarez but Iggy has at most one more season in him and he needs to be ready and willing to spend heavily on a FA closer unless they want to turn Fuentes into a closer which would be stupid imo

Drake does not need to be leading off.
At least it makes sense in this game. He has only seen Yamamoto 3 ABs and he took him deep in one of them
FWIW career numbers for some of our guys against him
Harris 2 for 6 with a double
Olson 0 for 6 with 3 ks
Acuna 0 for 3 but hit a HR off him in the WBC
Ozzie 1 for 5
Riley 1 for 5 with a double

Damn, Ohtani down to 5th

I wish we would do a 1 and 5 swap
As for moving down Shohai Sale has owned him his entire career to a 3 for 15 hits/AB with 1 2B and has stuck him out 7 of those 15 times.
Sale has owned their entire lineup except for freeman and betts the former has hit 2 HR and 2 doubles off him in just 16 ABs and betts is 7 for 18 against Sale with 1 HR

That's a helluva team across the way.
“I'm just preparing for another grind. I'm preparing for another battle and just got to go leave it all on the field. However it shakes out, that's how it shakes out.”

If tweet fails to load, click here. Murphy out, Lane Thomas in. Yamamoto must be a reverse split pitcher to have Thomas and Kim in with Yaz and Rowdy out.

Interesting.
I was watching the BP livestream and Murphy took one swing then left the cage, but it didn't seem like he was in pain or anything.

I’m going to leave out that I’m a Dodgers fan for this post.
As a fan of the game this is one helluva matchup (rematch?). Enjoy it, gentlemen. If you guys win it will be well deserved.

I didn’t like that Muncy was coming off the bench in game 2. I don’t like this either. Play your best guys. This is the part of Roberts’ management style that bothers me. Too much emphasis on matchups rather than letting your best players go out and perform. I’d rather Kike come off the bench if needed.

As purely a fan of the sport, it doesn’t get any better than this pitching matchup

Yeah it really is something to just enjoy as a fan. Of course we’re invested and that means the opposite to some extent
I’m glad I’ve gotten older and mellowed out over sports. If my team loses now I move on and can give credit to the opposing team. It used to be pure anger. If anyone is younger and reading that please recognize that there is more to life than sports… as fun as they are.
But it should be a helluva game. Yoshi is the guy I trust the most on the staff. If you’re gonna get to him it probably needs to happen early. The same is probably true for us getting after Sale.

Let's hope Sale can go deep in this one. I don't trust Lee to go against their lefties, nor any of the righties currently other than Fuentes and Iggy.

I was today years old when I found out Kenny Albert is Marv Alberts son. I'm a dip shite

As always with Sale, just gotta get through the first inning unscathed.
