Interview with Seitzer on Olivera. Seitzer was in Puerto Rico with Olivera for the winter league. Some notes:
Seitzer said, "I was so impressed by his work ethic, his intensity, his focus and concentration to detail. It was really awesome. I was really impressed by how much more athletic he was in the outfield. It was fun to watch."
Olivera batted .235/.304 and recorded just two extra-base hits (both doubles) through 51 at-bats in Puerto Rico. Only struck out once.
"He's a gap-to-gap guy," Seitzer said. "I see him hitting 15-20 home runs. If he can hit more than that, then great. If he can drive in 80 [runs], that's great. If we get more than that, that's icing on the cake. He's a pretty talented kid. I think he's going to make adjustments quick."

Per sources, #Cubs doing background work on a dozen or so starting pitchers. #Braves believed to want young position players for Miller.
PLEASE OH PLEASE OH PLEASE!

You think soler and or baez?
Posted on 11/20/15 at 3:21 pm to lsu31always
I'm not sure. My initial thought was Baez+. The Cubs have a bunch of guys they need to add to the 40 by tonight including Vogelbach and Contreras.

Not sure the answer to this, but if we trade for someone eligible to the rule v draft prior to the draft but after the deadline, I assume he can still be selected.

I'd imagine soler and Joc have equal value, and at this point i feel DeLeon possesses more value than baez does. Assuming that is the starting point from what law said

Earlier this offseason there was talk of cubs talking soler with cleveland in regards to either of their young pitchers. I would also expect teams to ask about eloy jimenez.
yea but the 40 man sits at like 32, so there's plenty of room.

Thanks for the heads up. Wasn't sure where they were with numbers.

I hope we get Contreras back in part of a package.
If they sit at 32, they have 6 players who need to be added.

@mlbbowman: Cameron Maybin has been traded to the Tigers for LHPs Ian Krol and Gabe Speier. This deal will save the #Braves a little more than $6M

At least we have a lot of pitchers.

WUT?
I guess I need to do some research on who these clowns are

This ain't a scene, it's a god damn arms race.

Neither are rule 5 guys this year.
Posted on 11/20/15 at 4:15 pm to Mac5500
Krol has pitched 3 years in the majors already with crappy results. Speier is still a baby and has already had TJ.

So a reliever we can trot out there and our mandatory TJS survivor for every trade.
Edit: If it's true that we're saving $6 million then it's worth it. We had too many OFers as it was and no way anyone is taking Bourn or Swisher and giving us anything of value back. Just frees up a spot for Mallex to be on the MLB roster.

Apparently. Speier has some solid numbers but has never pitched above A ball.
I didn't think we'd get much for Maybin but shite.

Well, Krol is a Lefty with an inability to get hitters out.

His value plumeted in the second half. He should have been dealt at the deadline.
