The Scott Frost firing almost now looks imminent after a big weekend loss to Purdue.

With the Dan Mullen shitstorm in Gainesville, they could now be looking as well, plus Patterson at TCU just retired... and that's just in the last couple of days.

As it sits today, these P5 jobs could all be open at the end of the season, either by firings or by coaches leaving their sitting job:

USC
LSU
UCLA
Nebraska
Florida
Michigan State (if Tucker leaves)
Baylor (if Aranda leaves)
Ole Miss (if Kiffin leaves)
TCU

I'm sure I'm also missing some and more heads will roll at season's end. Washington's coach is horrific and 9ne to keep an eye on.

I seriously doubt the Huskers fire Frost. I'm not excusing how the team has performed with the constant penalties and sloppy qb play, but theyve shown signs of improvement by keeping games close that they lost by 40 a few years ago. I think they'll give him 1 more year and possibly get a qb in to replace bonehead Martinez.

Quite the ride Chip Kelly has had this season. They were a sleeper playoff pick if they could somehow come out of the Pac12 after the first couple games. Seems the false equity he earned by stomping a shitty LSU team has faded quickly.

If they fire Frost, who is even interested in that job?

Jeff Brohm ain't leaving Purdue for Lincoln and neither is Mark Stoops at Kentucky. Both of those jobs re currently better than Nebraska.

Besides an up and coming G5 guy from the Midwest, I don't know who wants to go there right now.

Can anyone salvage it though? I feel like the excuse is always lack of instate talent, but could they not compete at a Wisconsin or an Iowa level with the right hire? I mean weren’t they essentially doing that under Pelini which wasn’t that long ago.

The ceiling for Nebraska is probably OK St

Consistently a 3-4 loss team occasionally 2 loses

They COULD play at that level, but they’ve fired the two coaches since Osborne that had them playing at that level.

Washington State has to find a new coach as well, with the #1 priority of finding someone that is vaccinated

Nebraska signing Frost to an extension 2 years into the gig was laughable. He was basically Herman to UT, but with the hometown flair. They want so bad for him to be good.

This article is spot on. 4 Years of Frost

Even when Nebraska fans rip on their team they do it with total contempt for other programs they feel are beneath them. Husker fans shouldn't look down on Purdue because Purdue has been a hell of a lot better than them for a while now. Nobody is surprised Purdue beat Nebraska except for Nebraska Fan.

They haven't been humbled enough yet. A couple more years of 3-4 win seasons is needed for a little humility.

If they tried to gear their team more towards the Wisconsin/Iowa style of play they have a chance.

Both programs usually have really high end offensive line play, and they’re always disciplined and smart on defense. It’s a really good identity to have, especially when you know your talent pool isn’t upper echelon. It’s something they can take pride in with how they recruit and find the 3 star “leftover” type skill position prospects from Texas, Florida, etc.

Again that seems attainable at Nebraska.

Kids went to schools because they were on TV. So Nebraska got California kids that didn't get offered by SC.

Well everyone is on TV now. Nebraska has no in-state talent and kids have no reason to move there.

They needed to be nationally special to be good and they lost that awhile ago.

Once the Big 8 dissolved and they faced more recruiting and competition in the Big12...the downfall began. Once they went to the Big10, they were nothing special.

Frost said you can’t recruit to Oregon on his way out. We will never let him live that down.

Cristobal comes in and its top 10 classes. Frost needs to go somewhere with limited expectations.

He comes from the Chip Kelly tree of no recruiting and piss poor roster management and that tree is dead.

“It’s hard in those places [Oregon] because we’re just not in close proximity, Oregon wasn’t and isn’t in close proximity to the fertile recruiting ground.'

Uh, you're on the border of California.

You're not in middle America wasteland.

The #1 out of state license plate you see in California is Oregon.
