Jordan won there and is hardly the best ball striker.
Gonna be crispy this week due to the extreme heat over there lately. I’d lean to the best putters. Maybe Burns can break through.

My nephew who is a golfer says this course favors the best ball strikers. Who are those in today's game and who would everyone consider the best ball strikers of all time?
Today’s game - Scottie, Tommy, Ludvig, Morikawa (irons only), Fitzpatrick (this season), Cam Young, Rory, Xander
Recent good ones - Adam Scott, Sergio, Vijay, Ernie Els
All time - Johnny Miller, Tiger, Jack

I think Bruce Cupcake was leading the tour in proximity this year for a while

Yeah it’s cooled off just in time. Course is still bone dry and greens will be fun.

On the golf channel yesterday they described it as blistering heat
The dirt fairways are going to bring a lot of lesser known guys in the mix imo. They showed Alex Noren, who drives the ball 290 (150th on tour), drive the green on a 380 yard par 4.
Hitting the fairways is going to be more important than distance. I think they said on crosswind holes they are expecting like 33% fairway accuracy. Not sure how they predict that but that is going to make for a fun tournament for us TV viewers.

Faldo not mincing words about Bryson:

Bryson DeChambeau is on the brink of a calendar slam of missed cuts.
The 32-year-old enters this week’s British Open at Royal Birkdale looking to reach the weekend of a major for the first time this year after missing the cut at The Masters, the PGA Championship and the U.S. Open.
It seems unfathomable that a multi-time major champion who had three top-10 finishes (two top-five) in majors last year and is still in the prime of his career could be struggling so badly on the biggest stages, especially given he has played well in LIV Golf events, winning two tournaments in March.
Nick Faldo shared his thoughts on DeChambeau’s major struggles.
“That’s a whole part of the story, how they’re superstars at LIV then come over and can’t do it. So that’s all another story. Then they go back to be superstars. He has — I’d say it to his face — he has zero clue of strategy,” Faldo, the three-time British Open winner and three-time Masters champion, told Sky Sports.
DeChambeau, Faldo believes, is too worried about bombing the ball as far as he can instead of adjusting to the course, citing a comment DeChambeau made last year about wanting to “attack the links.”
Well, I’ve never attacked a links. You thread it, don’t you? You feed it down the fairway,” Faldo said, noting it’s ill-advised to worry about distance when you can’t see where the ball is going.
According to golf reporter Justin Ray, the last time a golfer with multiple major victories missed the cut at all four majors in a calendar year was 1998, when Tom Watson and Ben Crenshaw both did it; they were each in their mid-to-late 40s at the time.
DeChambeau, a two-time U.S. Open champion, told Sky Sports he has new 3D-printed irons for the British Open.
“This is a very tough golf course. I like it,” DeChambeau said. “It really tests every facet of your game.”

Yeah 2024 was so long ago

Yeah 2024 was so long ago
Thats a lifetime ago for a supposed elite golfer. For example you have to go back 8 years to total 5 missed cuts for Rory and Scottie still doesn’t have 5 missed cuts

Bryson is a mess right now but blaming being on LIV for it is dumb
Posted on 7/15/26 at 12:40 pm to Cosmo
2024 & 2025 were the 2 best major seasons of his career. 1 win, 6 top 10’s
“Blaming LIV” bc of the outside distraction of them losing funding may be legit

His head up his arse and in the YouTube clouds is linked to LIV and that shite got on steroids starting last year
Is it LIVs “fault”, well that is semantics. But I don’t think if he was on tour he would have as much freedom to be an absolute dumbass like he is currently . He needs to be protected from himself and having this autonomy is bad for him

Maybe
But bryson isnt the one that would really be worrying about that. Its the nobodys on LIV making 8 figures

The fricking assclown is on his third set of 3D clubs jsut this year
He has completely gone off the rails. He was the junkie kid that left home and it took a few years for him to fully transform into his true self
I’m blaming Bryson moreso than LIV, but LIV was the influence that told Bryson. “Be you. You are cool”
When the truth is “you are actually pretty fricking stupid “

True but I think he cares too much about it. Rahm has taken that approach to not worry about it & said that he is staying in his lane

Bryson doesn't have to use driver on every hole this week and the way the ball is rolling if he's not spraying the driver he has a decent chance at being in contention. Probably won't win but Top-20 is certainly achievable
