Expand the playoffs more and you get a 9-3 Bama team making it last year with losses to two 6-6 teams. Anyone upset about Bama making it this year should be arguing hard against any expansion.

Contract it to 8

I'll preface this by saying if it was up to me I'd go back to how it was in 1995 and just add a plus one. That ain't happening though, so I'd go with this.

1. Scrap the P4 conference title games
2. Sadly, expand to 16 to make up for that lost revenue. Top 16, period. No auto bids.
3. Start a week earlier so first two rounds are on campus.
4. Semis on NYD, preferably in Pasadena and New Orleans.

The gap is a huge problem that needs fixed. I’d argue telling the bowls to frick off and doing all home games until the final too

There have been arguments about too many bowl games for years. This is also not the first time a team with a losing record made a bowl game because they needed to fill a slot. Therefore, you can actually kill 2 birds with 1 stone.

Have heard a lot of hesitation about the home games from people on the committee. So, why not just have some of these early bowl games be the sites for 1st & 2nd round of the playoffs.

There are currently 84 bowl teams (including the 12 in the playoff) and 42 total sites being used (I think I caught all the duplicates).

11 games in the current playoff format would cover 11 of those sites. Leaving 31 other bowl games for 62 teams (still too many but helps part of the problem).

The top 4 still deserve a bye. 13 games + Conference champ + 4-5 playoff games is a lot in years with only 1 bye. Just play 12 teams and move the first round to Dec 13, 2nd to Dec 20 and play the semis on NY

Just keep out teams like Tulane and JMU and it'd be fine. Texas and Vanderbilt deserved a spot more than those two teams.
