What are the property taxes like to pay for these things?
While its really cool that the stadiums are this nice I would have to wonder if the money could be better spent on something else education wise? Just curious
There are two factors here.
1) Texans love their football. Varsity Blues / Friday Night Lights is completely true.
2) In the massively growing school districts, they can pass entire new bonds without raising tax rates. Someone else posted that a huge new bond was passed and his taxes didn't go up. A place like Katy is adding hundreds if not thounsands of properties - residential and commercial - to the tax rolls each year. All those new properties provide taxes. They can take part of those new taxes and repay the bonds with them. Katy passed a 750 million dollar bond last year and did not raise tax rates a penny. Between the new properties coming on to the rolls, and the natural increase of property values each year, there is enough money to handle it.
Having lived in NOLA before and after I lived in Katy, it's a completely different concept from anything LA ever has had.

Katy is getting a new stadium. These complexes are usually built and shared by the entire ISD in Texas
I still don't understand why they are building the new stadium next to the old one. That decision was made after I left. When I still lived there, they were going to build it next to what became Thompkins HS

not in texas but bishop gormans is ridiculous as well
That whole school and complex is insane.
I went to one of Gormans basketball games either last year or year before. They had a 7'0, 6'11 and 6'11 guy on the team.
I know this year they have a 6'11 guy and one of the O'Bannon brothers kids. I think they still play in the regular school district for district/division games vs other Vegas public schools. Games get out of hand. haha
Most of the schools out here are pretty nice though. My wife (no pics) went to school in Vegas, she just laughed and laughed when I showed her around Broadmoor.

Jones Stadlum is great
I always like Alamo Stadium too, not sure why
Unless they've renovated it it's a total dump but you could tell there were a lot of big time high school games and players that had played there

The Midland stadium for Lee and Midland High is a new one that I like a lot. Seeing a Lee-Midland High or Lee-Permian game is quite the experience here. Texas Tech actually held their spring game there when they were renovating the stadium in Lubbock
There's Ratliff Stadium in Odessa also, which is a place with a ton of history but not as nice (cause Odessa) It's also where they filmed Friday Night Lights
