McGwire, Sosa, Bonds, and all the other PED-using players of the late-90s/early-00s definitely helped save the game of baseball and bring viewership back to the sport. However, it's perfectly understandable why none of them will ever touch the Hall of Fame.
There are huge holes that no one here can possibly know about all of this. A few issues/scenarios:
1. Do we believe the guys who had the best numbers were the only ones on steroids? If everyone was on steroids or no one was on steroids would they still have been the best players? if yes, then HOF
2. Do we believe that directly or indirectly, because these guys were on steroids and others were not, they took spots on rosters, all-star games, World Series wins etc. that they should be punished for that? Would a guy who was a very good player have been a HOFer if he was the only top level player not on steroids?
I don't think you can simply take "roids" out of any argument honestly to show numbers. Do you believe McGuire's numbers were inflated over his peers due to steroids? If no because you believe a large % of his peers were also doing stuff, then I have no problem with him being in the HOF. If yes, then I don't see why he would get into the HOF for the same reason athletes can't compete in the olympics or win medals if they are caught.

I was shocked at his strike out numbers being as low as they were, considering his 230, 240 ish. Average years.
U would think 170-200 k's many of those years

He hit 49 HRs in 1987, his first full season in the league...setting the Rookie HR record.
Then hit 32, 33 and 39.
All before roids.
Then hit 32, 33 and 39.
All before roids.

It’s cute that you think Jeter was clean.
Also cute that so many of you think the guys that looked like body builders and hit 50+ home runs a year were the only ones using anything. Almost EVERYBODY was on something. The money was too good and you’d be at such a competitive disadvantage that you’d have been stupid not to be. Some guys took higher dosages and/or stronger stuff and worked out a lot harder than others, but make no mistake, they were all doing it to some degree.
