Exactly. Plus, their argument would be automatically better than Bama's last year because they actually won not only their conference, but also their division
The better question is why you and your fellow LSU fans are championing Florida's case for the BCS title game in other threads on this website. Why was winning your conference the end all be all last year but doesn't seem so important this year with Florida?

And to answer the original question, I don't think they would be in the National Championship game even though they would have had the best resume. They would have the highest computer score besides Notre Dame, but the pollsters would still put Alabama higher which would tip the scales.

Because in the Human polls both Alabama and Georgia would be ahead of them..Stanford would probably have a nice grab in the Computers though.
The SECCG would vault whoever into the title game, unfortunately.

I don't know who's doing this, but I'd say people are pulling for it because Bama's mulligan turned the system on its head and people want to see the free-for-all continue and not just be isolated to Alabama.

but I think that game was more of UW playing out of their mind at home rather than Stanford going full retard.
well, I can agree with that. BUt, if you play that game again 9/10 times stanford wins IMO.

Sorry man. Just calling it like I see it. FWIW, UF (your avatar reminded me) has the best resume out of all of them, but just chose the wrong game to lose. You don't win conference, you don't get in.

You won't see me wanting UF in. They didn't win their conference, so they don't get in. Tough shite IMO.

Thread would read a lot better if you would have said "if Stanford had not lost to Washington".
I still firmly believe the pressure of being top ranked would have gotten them the same way it gets everyone else. The Oregon game isn't the "must win" that it ended up being.

I know, I'm messin with you. Stanford loss to Wash is a deal breaker.
Plus...a rematch?

which is why I am not excited about the selection committee starting in 2014 at all. Computers are unbiased.

No doubt. I'm saying if stanford wins that game like they're supposed to, then their only loss is getting hosed in a bad call against ND.
I hate rematches, but I don't think an objective person can say that ND clearly won that game.

Why the hate? Stache has a legitimate question, albeit one he already knows the answer to.
Using the "eye test" and looking at "quality losses", Stanford would be more deserving of the title shot. ESPN created it, but you wont hear anything about it this season.

We shouldn't hear anything about it because stanford lost to washington.
I was just thinking of this hypothetical. I think the ratings for this rematch would've been amazing though.

Fair enough, but what about if Notre Dame had lost to USC? Would Oregon, Kansas State, or Notre Dame really have a better resume than Florida who has beaten 4 Top 15 teams and 2 on the road? If Notre Dame had lost last Saturday then Florida would have slid in like Alabama did last year.

I know. And I'm damn glad it didn't happen.
I just don't think you should get a chance at the title if you didn't win your conference. If you don't win your conference, then how can a team be the best in the nation? Doesn't make sense....
I say if ND would've loss, then the winner of the SECCG should have to play the next 1 loss team who won their conference. Or perhaps ND should still get a shot depending on if their resume was better than the next best 1 loss team who won their conference.

So you're a conference winners only person when it comes to BCS playoff? In other words, you'd go so far as putting a 1 loss Big Ten conference champion in let's say a 6 team playoff and leave Florida out simply because they didn't win their conference? Keep in mind the Big Ten was historically bad this year.

I agree with that too. I'm a big fan of how Stanford plays football. I love watching them play.

yes, absolutely. UF isn't better than UGA. Why should they get a second chance?
Essentially, your conference games are a playoff IMO.
