but to say that Tiger would have won all of those majors and even tournaments without Stevie isn't exactly a fair statement. I think that people underestimate how valuable Stevie was to Tiger. The guy is a very good caddy and knows his shite when it comes to courses and the type of game his player plays.

You say this though as if you know how good Williams is in comparison to every other caddie out there. I've hear from multiple accounts that Williams was a bum of a caddie compared to some others. That was my point earlier, who's to say that Fredrick Jacobsens caddie isnt the best on tour? We wouldnt know that. What we do know is that compared to everybody on tour, Tiger is by far the best talent of this generation. Do we know that Williams is even one of the 20 best caddies? No.

Stevie is so good as a caddie that I probably would have won 2-3 majors with him on my bag in the past 5 years.

maybe I should give him a call

I highly doubt Tiger would of kept Steve around if he was a "bum of a caddie." The only thing you can measure a caddy by is how many wins his boss has and how long he has been with the golfer. It says something that Tiger stuck with him for 12 years. But I agree, Tiger is the talent.

WAS is a better word here. I never doubted how great Tiger was from 1997-2005. But to undemine how important Steve was to his succuess is just wrong.

Dont you know that Stevie Williams has become legendary as a Caddy now?

All-time greatest Caddys:

1. Stevie Williams
2. Bagger Vance
3. That little chubby kid that caddied for Frances Ouimat.
4. Danny Noonan

As a matter of fact, as good as Stevie is now I think he will grab some guy ranked around #200 and launch him to a career winning 14 majors!!

You guys are all missing the point of what a great caddie does. The best example is John Daly winning the PGA without ever seeing the course. Squeaky guided Daly around that place to perfection. He also was able to club Daly right on the money after seeing him hit it a few times on the range.

Stevie earned his money with Tiger by being able to put the right club in his hands more times then not. That is extremely difficult when you are dealing with a player like Tiger that has multiple swing speeds. The other thing is the caddie is another set of eyes that can help you make adjustments during the course of play.

I think we need a few more people to explain to us what a good caddie is.

Dude the other day Williams said he won 145 tournamemts. He won them. ESPN is making a big deal about what a caddie says. Is a good caddie helpful? Sure. Does he win tournaments? NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

A caddie should never talk to the media on the 18th hole, especially when you never mention your player.

2nd, you can lead a horse to water, but you can't make him drink. You can do all you can as a caddie, but when it's on the line, the player has to perform under the pressure.

I almost feel bad for Adam Scott because of this douche. He is taking away from the victory Adam Scott just had, and he is taking all the credit.

The best comments were "going out there today I felt nervous." What the frick were you nervous about? Accidently giving a 170 yardage compared to a 175. What a fricking tool.

Yeah if I was Scott, I wouldve sent him packing after this BS. It would be like an umpire in baseball trying to steal the spotlight. Nobody comes to see a caddie!! Shut the eff up!!

Plus one.

I never say a caddie "won" anything.

Seriously dude! First this is NOT his whole staff. Second, the caddie has basically been spotting off that he is the reason Scott won the tournament. There is a reason you never hear caddies talk bc they don't hit the shots.
