He won the MVP the last 2 seasons and didn’t this year.

It’s pretty fair to say he’s been at this same level for a few years now, no?

Just because the Warriors shoot a lot of 3s doesn’t mean they don’t use the paint big time as part of their offense. They rely on ball movement to get quality open looks behind the arc. Driving and drawing an extra defender is a huge part of that. With Anthony Davis controlling the paint, the extra defender can depend on Davis to protect the drive and everyone else can switch to contest shooters. They are reliant on Davis to be amazing here and when he is, the Warriors were toast because they did not get the open looks.

Great post. Someone who understands what they are watching.

Steve Kerr and Bob Myers inexplicably forgot that length still matters in the playoffs. Why in the hell didn't they get anyone serviceable over 6-10 before the playoffs is plain stupid.

That Laker team ain't all that.

Well the draft picks haven’t panned out, for starters. Not bringing back Otto Porter and Bjelica from last years run hurt too.

But this lakers team is actually loaded.

The Lakers have the best defense in the NBA, and one of the best paint protectors in history. They are also full of available players for matchups situations. And to top all of that, they have Lebron James playing a “I’m here when you need me” role. The Lakers, if healthy, are more than all that.

Correct. The Lakers are stacked. Reaves and Russell are excellent playmakers and can make shots. This a different style of team building because it’s built around Davis and the acknowledgement by the organization that LeBron can’t do it every night. Rui is 6’9 wing who can give you a little off the bench .Everyone wanted Vanderbilt and Beasley (who doesn’t even play for them) at the deadline, And Vanderbilt is being called a modern Rodman…to couple that with 2 Top 75 players one of whom is in their absolute prime that disrupts as historically great offense… Now the test is the best player in the world, and his very well constructed roster. Porter Jr is going to have to have a big series, & the Lakers have 3 guys they can throw at him.

AD is going to have to deal with three long athletes vs Denver (Jokic, Gordon, Porter) and not just an undersized Draymond.

If AD can't hold up, Nuggets will end it pretty quick.

Really? All 3 players are going to surround AD and chase him off the court?

Who's guarding LeBron? Porter is an offensive guy who at times has struggled with defense mightily and injuries. He is a finesse player at best. Aaron Gordon's task is going to be to somehow stay in front of LeBron and see how long it takes him to stay out of foul trouble.

LeBron was the best player in 2 of the finals he lost, including the 2014 against Spurs.

Disagree on 2014. Bron shot 57% from the field and a blistering 51.8% from 3, but only averaged 28ppg. Comparatively in the 2015 Finals, Bron averaged 35.8 ppg on a bad 39.8% from the field because he was aggressively looking to score.

With how scorching hot he was in 2014, he should have been gunning for 40 a night. They probably still lose to the Spurs though because of how killer that offense was.

Stacked with a "modern Rodman".
