I payed to much for the clubs to throw them around
I threw a 9-iron about 50 yds one time. It went farther than the ball I hit!!!!

You aren't alone. You know how to tell the difference between a novice and a seasoned club thrower?

I put the ball where the club landed!!!

The Tiger Effect ended about 5 or 6 years ago...its plateaued even with him being successful.
In the late 90's early 2000's EVERYONE had to play golf or own clubs. Courses sprouted up everywhere and the industry was booming.
Well...it wore off, people realized they sucked and its an expensive sport to play. Look at the number of courses that have closed or are struggling to remain open, take a look at the number of golf retailers that have closed.
The only thing he drives is TV ratings, and even those aren't as impactful as what they were just a few years ago.

well played well played
I usually need a bank shot off a tree to get a ball in the middle of the fairway

I know all of this and I agree. Most people can't afford to play the game enough to get real good. I am decent and Don't play as much as I would like. But I have followed golf for a long time before Tiger came along. Most haven't. Its not like picking up a bball and being able to hit some shots on the playground.

When I was 17-18, my handicap was 2.5 but I'm 24 now and have played very little since those days and shot an 85 this morning. Pathetic. Thank goodness for the masters

did you go to the range first to try to get a feel for your swing again or did you just head out to the course?

Wen I was 16 I had a 1.5 handicap. I was really good but things just got in the way of me playing. Golf is a tricky game. You are still young and need to commit to it if you want to get your CAP back. I have the money to play almost every week. BUT Other shite is going on.

Well I went straight out, it isnt like I haven't played ANY. I played about 3 times this year but when I was younger I played everyday that's why I was pretty decent. It's just hard to motivate yourself to practice when you know u won't get to consistently play anymore and frustrating to suck at something you used to be good at. My short game is what has abandoned me the most

I'm better now than I was playing the junior tours. Mainly because I stopped caring...

Thats where I am at!! I still hit it about 275 on a regular basis, BUT My short game is REAL bad. BUT That has made me learn how to read the greens better!!

I'm not being arrogant but i think i could get back in the 70's rather quickly. My short game and just needs a weeks worth of work. I'm the opposite of you golfer. I have to care when I play. If I have no interest then I don't scramble for pars and bogeys pile up, but when I care I tend to focus a lot harder on those all important par saves
Posted on 4/9/11 at 1:54 pm to RammerJammerBammer
I haven't been out to the course in awhile. Scared to think how bad my game is right now. I was happy if I could get a bogey

Do you have aspirations of playing the tour???
If NOT then you take it WAY WAY to serious.

The game does not evolve because of one man. The game is the game.
Then why have so many golf courses been re-designed since Tiger came on the scene? I suppose Tiger's length had nothing to do with just about every course being made to play longer. Sure it was just the improvement in the equipment. Tiger-proofing is just a legend.

'Tigerproofing' should utilize narrow fairways, with tall trees to the right, plenty of doglegs or double doglegs.
