4 vs 2 min as far as i can tell, just the severity of the penalty?
if there is blood from incident. high-sticking is usually the only call that gets this

thanks man, got another one for you, why is a penalty sometimes a "double" or a "minor", 4 vs 2 min as far as i can tell, just the severity of the penalty?

What?? So it could just go to 1,565 OT's?

Well, like all penalties, it is up to the discretion of the head officials (the ones with orange rings around their arms) when and if a penalty will be called and what it will be. In the case of the double minor you saw, I'd say it was a bad call (the other player completely dove and acted it out), but the ref likely called a double minor (regular minor being 2 minutes, double being 4) because it was a cross-checking penalty (a 2 minute minor) + hitting a defenseless player.
You'll likely continue to see a lot of roughing penalties in addition to 5 minute fighting majors in this game and series. I think you asked earlier about how they know when to call a fighting major. Historically, refs are very reserved in the playoffs when it comes to calling penalties (they usually let guys get away with murder unless obvious. This game, though, has shown a lot of obvious penalties) and unless there have been a couple of punches thrown, they usually won't call any fighting penalties. again, everything is up to their discression. If they don't make the call, they won't be penalized by the league for it or anything. It's just in the spirit of letting the guys play while also trying to balance their authority and keep order

I think the longest ever was 5 OT periods. So nearly 3 full games (eight periods total
It's sudden death, though. Normally because guys get so tired, it's decided by the 2nd or 3rd OT at latest, cause somebody makes a gaffe and can't recover in time.

Makes sense. NOW I'm learning!!!

You'll usually see at least one game go to 3 OT's in a Finals series. When both goaltenders and the other 10 guys on the ice are playing at their peak, you shouldn't expect to see a lot of scoring.

I plan on knocking that out before the end of intermission.
