The sound doesn't "sound" great on TV because of the Tesla coil/tower. That's why they usually pan to weird shots when they score and to an extent for the pregame excitement. That thing is loud as F and I find it obnoxious (although cool) to look at.
I've talked with opposing fans multiple times. They freak out about that thing during/after it happens if they don't know it will happen... which includes most visiting fans.
