The Hornets need to get the 6 or 7 seed so they can play either the Nuggets or the Spurs. That would be fine for them.
The Nuggets are a shoo-in for the 2nd seed.
I think with this news the Rockets are the favorite to move into the 3rd seed.
I think Portland is going to luck out and get the Spurs in the 1st round as the 4-5 matchup.

San Antonio has played pretty well without Ginobili this year, I don't know that this is a huge deal. They weren't going to beat the Lakers anyway, but they will still be able to win a 1st rd series, esp if they hold on to the 4 spot.

As a real Spurs/basketball fan who talks shite with some knowledge...haha...this news floors me. I feel sick to my fricking stomach right now. Despite the fact that Manu is my favorite player, it's no doubt this team rolls when he rolls. This is devastating. I know the window is closing on this bunch, but now it's closing real fast. By that I mean...MAYBE one more year of top notch basketball. We will still contend for divison titles and whatnot, especially if they build around a young Tony Parker and do it on the fly. I love our management and front office, so I'm not too concerned.
BUT...I love this team. I mean, when the Cowboys fail...I have the Spurs. When the Rockies and Indians die by June and july...the Spurs playoff glory excites me. This is different though. I've seen the decline, but knew that they could kick it up in the playoffs with some rest. That's what we all saw last year. Everyone thought the Spurs were depleted, but they battled as hard as they ever have against the Hornets, that after throttling the Suns, and despite the 4-1 loss to LA...they were some breaks away from sending that to 6, easily...and who knows from there.
I just don't know how to react. This is tough news for me. I'd like a division title right now. That would ease the pain. But as a Spurs fan...and as an LSU Tiger fan...it seems like the entire title (not some div. or conf. title) is all that satisfies me.
Damn...this is devastating...this sucks.
It's time to rally the troops.
Geaux Spurs Geaux.

lol, welcome to a Rockets season.
Posted on 4/7/09 at 12:39 am to TEXASTIGER22
I follow the Rockets pretty closely...have been for years. Needless to say 1995 wasn't awesome for me. Then again, I liked to see the Rockets win...especially over some teams like the Knicks and the Magic. frick the East, haha!
But geez...I know I have been lucky to see 4 titles...REALLY lucky. I mean, I could be a New orleans fan and put up with the Saints and Hornets, haha! I'm kidding.
For whatever reason, this one hurts. Even losing Duncan in the 00' playoffs didn't hurt...I guess because dynasty status wasn't achieved. Now, I expect us to be in the hunt. And barring a HUGE effort and great games from everyone...we are screwed. We can win round 1, and really compete. I know these guys are fighters...but this shite is depressing. I need more beer.

Ya, my entire mom's side of the family is from San Antonio area and big Spurs fans. I talked to my uncle for a while about this earlier today and he seems to think they are 1 and done now. I think the Spurs can get out of the 1st but are gonna have a tough time past that. Ya'll need Manu as much as anyone. I've thought for years he was the most underrated player on the Spurs. The guy doesn't mind coming off the bench and can put up 30 whenever he wants.
Posted on 4/7/09 at 12:53 am to TEXASTIGER22
I never underrated Manu myself. Recently people have come on to believing how great he is and how much he means to the team. Right now...I don't know. Timmy and Tony will show up for the postseason. But who is the third guy we need? You know Parker won't light it up like he CAN. If he does, then we can compete. But with Duncan in the lineup, that is not Parker's game.
I guess it's the role players who all need to contribute the extra basket or two.

Argentinians just play the game with more passion and more of a team attitude. I can remember hearing Manu's interview when he was told he was gonna be the 6th man and he said, Pop has gotten me multiple rings and what he says is best for the team. Tell that shite to T Mac and he wold demand a trade. That is the biggest reason I LOVED the Scola deal from day 1. He is a ball hawk who wants the team to win over anything else.

It's good to see one of them injured. I just wish it was Bowen. It's only fair.
Posted on 4/7/09 at 1:08 am to TEXASTIGER22
I think alot of the foreigners are like that. They don't have the "I'm American and I'm #1 attitude." Look at the great US players without rings...Iverson, Arenas, Carmelo, all these guys with attitudes. Guys like Dirk, Scola, and Peja would kill for a ring.

ya, a lot of people in houston didn't like that Yao was gonna rest after the surgery and not rush his recovery so that he could play in the Beijing olympics but he would have been devistated if he wouldn't have been able to play in those games and represent his country. Here most of the guys only want to play if they are being payed enough.

It's a shame he isn't out for longer.
Posted on 4/7/09 at 3:17 am to Hideo Nomo
Well at least he won't have to fake like he's hurt like he usually does.
Posted on 4/7/09 at 10:20 am to Froman
It's a shame that the Hornets have to rely on other team's injuries to spark the fan base within an otherwise stagnated organization.
You guys just hate Manu because of how many times he has torched the BumbleBees.
