I grew up during the Celtics/Lakers rivalry of the '80's so I HATED Magic! Now that I'm older and wiser I appreciate and admire the rivalry that WAS Bird and Magic!! Incredible era of the NBA!

This is really random but Matt Barkley. He would talk shite and then I realized it was all in good fun. I am not a well rounded sports fan considering he isn't a national star.

Rickie Fowler.
This a great answer. I hated what he wore, and I assumed he was a tool. Turns out he's one of the coolest guys on tour.

Reggie Miller. I hated him with a passion.
He earned my respect in Game 5 of the 2002 playoffs against the Nets. He hit an incredible buzzer beating 3 to send the game into overtime. In the first overtime, he dunked on the whole Nets team. Became a huge fan of his afterwards.
GREATNESS

Eli Manning.
Playa-hate at Ole Miss, then his draft day behavior turned me off.
All was forgiven when he ruined the Patriots** perfect season.

I really don't hate many sports stars, if any.

"Hate" is a strong word, but I've had dramatic change of opinions on three guys: Tom Brady, Gregg Popovich and Joakim Noah. Noah drove me crazy at Florida, but I love watch him in the NBA for whatever reason. Brady won me over during the course of his career.
Popovich struck me as a Bobby Knight wannabe with his attitude at first, but I've grown to love him and realize why he does what he does. Great coach and it sounds like he's a great guy, too.

I hated Deion Sanders until I watched him on NFL network. He's very knowledgeable and has a great since of humor.
