My comment wasn't directly targeted to you. I don't know anything about your opinions on these or other issues.
However, I do know that a lot of people who argue that "the media can do whatever it wants because it is a business, and businesses make money" when it comes to ESPN, and then complain that the news networks are anti-Republican. Yeah--CNN hates Republicans. Do you really think the suits who run the network voted for Obama? If CNN or MSNBC is in fact "liberal," isn't it because a bunch of television executives found that it was profitable to piss off Republicans?
The EXACT SAME WAY ESPN pisses off real sports fans by targeting Tim Tebow, Notre Dame, and Cowboys fans?
I don't know where you stand on that. However, some people want their cake and eat it too.

ESPN is sports for the non-sports fan...
and then you get stupid shite like this...most take for granted how absolutely terrible ESPN is until you take the content out of context.....

I have found that Mad Dog Radio on Sirius XM is the best for real reporting and discussion of sports topics. As far as anything else I have Apps to keep up with sports and watch highlights. I pretty much avoid ESPN unless there is a game on.

My take on ESPN is that all the suits care bout is ratings. As to what generates those ratings, the suits look at the larger tv markets & what interests dominates those markets. They then direct their producers to push those stories. They also draw on the love/hate dynamics of Tebow, ND, the Cowboys, Tiger, the Heat, etc as they know controversy draws viewing audiences from both camps. Read the book on ESPN, rather large but full of interesting information, and you'll get a lot better understanding bout how much power the suits in NY have over the network. It's hard to believe, but ESPN used to have to pay the cable companies to carry its programing back in the beginning, much like the other programs had to as well. I watch it now for live sporting events only.
