There’s were a ton of different reports on this and people love to cherry pick those reports what fits their argument on this but the offer in the OP is 133 mil GTD and he ended up with 185 Mil and did it over the course of 1 less season on the deal for more overall cash.

I’m not sure if you know how negotiations work but that’s a pretty good difference and typically you ask for more than what you’ll ultimately settle for. Just like the ravens offered lower than what they ultimately would settle for to start.

The previous deal was 133 mill guaranteed at signing. Not guaranteed overall.

The same article states even Kyler Murray got 190 mill guaranteed which is still better than Lamar.

Lamar got a great deal. I’m not denying that. but all reports stated he wanted more guaranteed money than watson and he did no such thing.

He got PAID but he did not get what he wanted overall
Welcome to how negotiations work.

No player of that level gets what they wanted or initially ask for.

The Ravens didn't get what they wanted either, so...

I think schefter is being pretty coy there

Every cap site including the contract that was reported to the NFLPA database has Kylers GTD at 160 mil. Even the article schefter links in this article states the deal is 160 GTD

I think what schefter did was include the 30 million dollar 5th year rookie option year with was already finally guaranteed

Which if you did that for Lamar, would mean this deal is 210-215 GTD.

I just think you’re taking the reports a bit too much as the truth and the full truth. I believe Lamar has even denied previously asking for that fully GTD, but again even if he was pushing for that amount, that’s just him negotiating. You want to start off high in a negotiation if you’re Lamar, of course you’d look at the highest QB and ask for that. Eventually they negotiated the deal that both sides felt good about

Again you can find a report about every slice of the negotiation and demands by both sides that wildly differ: some of its completely BS, some of its true but not in full context, and some of it is leaker intentionally by one side or the other as a negotiating ploy

Schefter also left out the full GTD amount, only noting the GTD at signing was more. There’s nothing that says what the remaining GTDs were so we aren’t comparing apples and oranges here
