B1G isn't going to act.

So this will come down to NCAA and LOIC if they want to hammer Harbaugh and crew.

The University was risk averse obviously and didn't want to get sued.

They clearly were presented with indisputable evidence of wrongdoing on Stalions' part.

On another note, it’s been almost 4 days with CMU not being able to identify their own staffer during the Sparty game.

Michigan insider saying a 2 game suspension from B1G likely coming Sunday or Monday.

Likely would be accepted by UM to avoid ban from B1G title game and CFP.

A 2 game suspension for 2.5 seasons of cheating is wild.

Michigan has transitioned from

~We ain’t done shite wrong

To

~We had no idea what he was doing, he was just a low level staffer who obviously has no input on game prep or in game decision making. Now that we fired him, can we forget this whole thing ever happened.

That transition was always going to happen with all that has come out.

B1G is likely trying to split the baby and appease both sides.

Here’s a convo between Bobby Carpenter and Devin Hester for all those seriously suggesting overhauling your signals mid-season is quick and easy.

quote:

Bobby Carpenter: Devin, jump in here since I'm an OSU guy, and I don't want to be seen as piling on, but having to change all of your signs mid-year is a huge deal.

Devin Hester: It's huge, particularly in college football. In college you only get 20 hours a week with your players, and after OTA's you don't want to spend time on signs again mid-season.

Carpenter: The signs are like learning a new language. You learn the language, it takes time for it to become locked-in. Then if you add a few more signs it's manageable, but even then it's a challenge particularly in an up tempo situation when you're moving fast. It's like when you’re trying to speak a new language fast. Then if you have to implement an entirely new sign system as opposed to just a few new signs it's like learning an entirely new language. It takes a lot of time, and even then everyone probably isn't going to be on the same page if it's a rush 2 minute drill or something.

Hester: Again there's only 20 hours a week to get this done in college. You're spending time that you would normally be using to run plays for the game and install new schemes, but instead you're doing signs. And these are college students not professionals so they have other obligations. It's not like they can just go home and study signs the rest of the night.

Never heard of this guy but his bio says he's a journalist

quote:

From friends/contacts in Ann Arbor: @bigten commissioner met with @UMichPrezOno and asked him to suspend @CoachJim4UM for two games. Ono pointed to the lack of evidence linking JH + kindly but firmly told the commissioner to get lost. Score one for due process + fairness.

They asked UM to suspend him, so B1G doesn't have to be the bad guy and open up an entire can of worms. And they allegedly refused.

We'll see.

Is the wise man, Dave Portnoy, explained to these Big10 coaches that they are complaining about nothing? Surely these coaches, having spent a lifetime in football, are ready to be educated by such a smart and mature man like Portnoy.

Chris Balas:

The Michigan administration met with the Big Ten Friday prepared to fight for head coach Jim Harbaugh and his staff, having taken him at his word that he had no knowledge of analyst Connor Stalions' actions involving illegal on-site scouting leading to sign stealing. They were even moving forward on a contract extension for the coach that would have made him the highest paid in the conference.

Sources tell us the Big Ten presented Michigan with "overwhelming evidence" of "a plot so extensive" that, in the words of one at the meeting, "someone should have known." The U-M administration met for some time to discuss the options going forward. As of now, Harbaugh is expected to coach against Purdue tomorrow. But more evidence has continued to mount that would, at the very least, put the extension in doubt

One of their posters said, “this isn’t enough new evidence to turn the ship around.”

Balas replied, “yes, it is.”
