Yeah Arman is #1 contender but Dana said he missed his shot. I think he has to earn that back probably by a fight with winner of Gaethje/Hooker or maybe even Chandler/Paddy.

Which takes me back to original post I made..

Ilia/Arman for a spot in title fight makes most sense.

Do Charles/Max

Have Poirier face Hooker/Gaethje winner. Porier/Gaethje are 1-1 and the last Hooker fight was electric even with no crowd.

Let me re-iterate though, I AM 100% IN ON DUSTIN-ILIA!

Sounds like he does want his shot at Islam now, although his team previously said Oliviera or Poirier

I don’t think he will get the next shot. The ufc has so many options at 155.

There is no way I could bet against Islam in that fight. Topuria is trying to do the Conor thing but LW is a bit different now than when he went and fought Eddie Alvarez.

I think Topuria is a super talented guy but I give him 1 out of a 100 chance to defeat Islam. If he defeats Islam I’ll eat crow and proclaim him p4p#1 and honestly up for goat discussion

In other UFC news, if you were hoping to see Bryce Mitchell at Karate Combat 53, you're in for a disappointment as he has withdrawn due in part to the promotion making him look "gay" on a promotional poster.

Fight promotions, take notice.

Interesting quote from Dustin Poirier: 'Dustin Poirier reacts to Ilia Topuria’s move to 155: ‘I would give him a crack at the lightweight title right off the bat’

Either Poirier wants to ride into the sunset with a fight that he's more sure he can win, and he doesn't want to become another trophy legend on Topuria's resume. Or he wants to see if Topuria can beat Islam, and Poirier thinks that he himself could then beat Topuria to retire as champion.

If Topuria manages to beat Islam, that would completely wreck Islam's plans to move up a weight class and become a double champ. Islam would probably get an instant title rematch against Topuria.

I think Topuria probably looks at the first Volk vs. Islam fight and thinks to himself--if Volk could do that to Islam, then I definitely have a chance to beat Islam.

Hooker out for 313. I say throw ilia in vs Gaethje. If he beats Justin, let him fight Islam.

Interesting point. I wonder what he thinks when he watches all the other Islam fights.

Apparently nothing that makes him think he couldn't win, or at least nothing that makes him think he should humble up and tone things down when talking about Islam and the Dagestanis. He's been talking mad trash, saying that he'll be able to do whatever he wants to vs. Islam, that only him and God know whether he's going to KO or submit Islam. Topuria really believes he can win.

A heavier, but equally powerful Ilia could beat Islam. But he’s probably something like a +200 dog in the fight.

I think it’s crazy for Ilia to say he won’t take a #1 contender fight though. When you vacate a belt you lose champ privilege in my opinion.

It's on less than 2 weeks notice, not the worst choice considering

I guess so. Fiziev held his own first fight but faded and got beat up late in the fight.

Wonder how much the Max fight took out of Justin. He was beat to hell after that one.

Best possible matchup out of the guys the offered at 155. Much better than gamrot, moicano, or beneil.

UFC better not queer him up on any of the promo posters if they want to see him show up.
