His hire was a lazy hire, he went from HS HC to College position coach then HC all in like 3yrs, he wasn’t ready and it shows

Hiring him and not being able to afford to get rid of him and his mediocrity is quite the pickle

Indeed.

10-4

What about all the other seasons? I hope Desormeaux turns it around. But, except for that one 10-4 season, he is a 6-6 regular-season coach. That is the very definition of mediocre. 29-25(0.537) - 19-13(0.594) is mediocre.

Is it OK for ULL? Maybe, if you want to take a step backwards. Which is what it looks like will happen.

Look at the previous two coaches and Desormeaux.

Mark Hudspeth - 51-38(0.573) - 37-19(0.661)

Billy Napier - 40-12(0.769) - 27-5(0.844)

Hudspeth was fired for 3 straight losing seasons.

How long did stokley muddle along at usl?

Nelson Stokley was actually a pretty darn good head FB coach for USL. Problem is our university president at the time decided he wanted to choke the life out of athletics at our school.

The piece of shite wouldn't allow a booster club to be started, and he threatened to fire coaches who approached certain big money folks for donations. In his mind, those donors needed to be focused on giving to academics and any of his little pet slush funds only. None of their dollars for any sports.

The Jerry Baldwin hire to replace Stokley was a political statement Authement and Ray Blanco wanted to make, rather than anything having to do with competence of being a head football coach of a D1 program.
