i agree with the gulf, but it's not like it's us and y'all and then everyone else. and the epl isn't the height of parity either
and maybe terry can twist/break an ankle now. anything to keep them down. (i really don't wish harm on others)

In other news essien seems to have recovered from his injury which is good news for chelski fans and their fading hopes of a title
I'll believe it when I see it. I've been waiting for weeks and this latest "good news" on Essien comes with no timetable for return which means it's probably not in the next couple of weeks. If he's not back for the United game it's probably curtains for us. Although with 4 of our top 5 back line out long term it probably already is curtains regardless.

Definitely not out of the realm of possibility, though. With everyone notched at 31 and only one point behind, your game against United will be epic. IMO that decides the title race. Both teams have hard games ahead so it seems its going to come down to that. I'd love it if Chelsea snatched the title from United at the end of the season.
Have to pull for the lesser of two evils I guess...

It'll be tough. Especially with the clash with Man Utd coming up

I just hope we get 3 against Villa this weekend to make that game really matter. I will be in London when we play United so I can't wait to watch it with some fellow Blues. I am also desperately trying to get tickets to the FA Cup Semi the next weekend against Villa. Anybody got any info on how I can make that happen?

They also have to play City and Spurs. I mean, those games are most likely winnable for United but by no means on lock. I guarantee you that City will be in top form that day. I'm sure they're relishing the chance to be the reason United miss the title by handing them a loss. Plus it'll be at City. Game's going to be much better than people think.
My point is that even if Chelsea lose to Villa, that City game could even things up and make the United/Chelsea matchup just as big regardless of what happens tomorrow at Stamford Bridge.

A little pre-CL Bordeaux action: coupe de la League final preview vs. Marseille
LINK
I would be pissed with this lineup. This is our first team, and we have CL on Tuesday vs. Lyon. I'd probably run out Wendel and Gouffran on the wings, Chamakh and Jussie up top, Fernando and Gourcoff in the center, Henrique and Sane in the central defense, Jurietti and Placente at left and right back. A fresh Plasil, Ciani, and Diarra will be key Tuesday.

True but we still have to go to Anfield as well as a match against Spurs. The run ins are pretty similar and we'll be lucky to get a draw at Old Trafford.

fun stats ab our fixture:

The Blues have taken points off of Manchester United, Chelsea and Liverpool already this season, so Arsenal know it will be tough. Their challenge is to stand up to and overcome the physical stuff with their passing and technical ability.
History is on their side - this will be the 130th meeting between the two teams, with Arsenal having won 57 of the previous encounters to Birmingham's 38; there have been 34 draws. And although the Blues have conceded just 10 league goals at home this season, a total only Manchester United (nine) can better, Arsenal have not failed to score at St Andrew's since May 1979.

I still have a bad taste in my mouth about Arsenal's last trip to the St. Andrews. The Eduardo leg break and the penalty at the end were both infuriating.

Essien
Although Chelsea pays his wages, I would bet Essien is more concerned with being in peak form for Ghana.

He needs a few games before the end of the season to work on his fitness and getting back into the groove of a competitive match. I doubt he would want his first competitive action since December to be the World Cup.

Agreed, but if he isn't ready he will not sacfrice club for country.

You would hope not. I just hope he is ready. It's been forever. He is arguably our most important player outside of probably Drogba.

At times I think Chelsea would be better without Drogba, good as he is, he encourages them to be quite lazy in attack and just play balls over him instead of working the ball up the pitch like they have the midfield to do (Lamps, Deco, Malouda, Cole, Ballack).
There's never been an occasion where I thought they'd be better without Essien though.

but also ... Beowulf Bendtner cut his teeth at Birmingham on loan. Some good came out the midlands.

Chelsea 1-0 up.
Birmingham denying Arsenal space to work their moves.

Carew with the equaliser.
Could he carew-cify Chelsea's titles hopes?
