I can't disagree with that. But, he needs World Cup Glory. Pele won won at seventeen.

As did fat Ronaldo, although he didn't play very much.

Speaking of which, imagine how good fat Ronaldo could have been without injury. Maybe the best pure striker of our time.

Good call, he was a great player for Germany and for Bayern.

Completely different time. Players are a lot better now than they were during Pele's days.

I think George Best was better than Pele.

Still not better with the left foot or as a header of the ball as Van Basten. Really not even close. A better dribbler for sure, but not a better overall striker.

Ok, of my time. I never saw Van Basten play because I was five when he retired. Youtube probably doesn't do him justice.

You have to understand, I grew up with van Basten being the a-hole that played Dirk Kuyt ahead of van Nistelrooy in the Portugal game of the 2006 WC. I'm still bitter about the money I lost.

Here is a very quick list. This will be biased toward post-1992 guys because I actually watched them live.

Maradona (hate to admit it, but he is clearly the best)

The rest is in random order: Batistuta, Fat Ronaldo, Cristiano Ronaldo, Raul, Schmeichel, Ronaldinho, van Basten, Paolo Maldini, Platini, Zidane, Henry, Raul, Baggio, Rooney, Giggs for consistency's sake, Cafu, and Roberto Carlos for some positional diversity. So that is 17 in total. Somehow I left off Messi. That's 18.

If we are going to have an all-underrated 11, I would definitely start off with Mehmet Scholl, one of the most exciting players to never feature in an exciting tournament. Matt le Tissier would have to be another

Just youtube Van Basten. Beyond ridiculous. It is no wonder FIFA ranks him at number seven of all-time.

Doing that as we speak. His volley against the USSR(?) in Euro 88 is pretty sick.

It is his diversity that makes him sick. No better with the off foot and no better with the head.

All of these posts lack a certain Five For Fighting enthusiast forward/midfielder extraordinaire.

giggs has just always been my favorite player. dude just doesn't even break stride to make the plays he does.

he is not be best ever but he is respected by all.

i was just watching some youtube vids of his and just sat back and enjoyed.

i really wish i could have seen him in a world cup.
