I would not be surprised if Benson was just throwing out UTSA and TSU to get Tech to stick around and then they added Cal. Poly. and Sacramento St. instead.

The WAC did not do Tech any favors last time conferences shuffled when C-USA took Tulsa and all the Texas schools. They turned to the SunBelt but instead of inviting ULL or Arky St. they picked up Utah St and NM St.

If Tech ever wants to gain non-Tech graduate fans in the state of Louisiana, they need to play other schools in the state on a regular basis.

I never went to Tech but was a big fan back in the late 70's (Billy Rickman was awesome).

The only people who think Tech playing in the WAC makes them look better than Tech playing in the Sunbelt are Tech alumni.

WAC, CUSA and Sunbelt aren't that much different now except for bowl tie-ins.

LOL this is just more wishful thinking printed by some MTSU people. This really doesn't say anything. The Sun Belt is HOPING we join them.

Dude, what exactly does LTU bring to the SunBelt that is so extraordiarily great that you speak about? LTU would be the greatest benefactor if they join the SBC. You need to get your head out of your arse and realize that LTU is at best a mid to upper tier Sun Belt team. Nothing more, nothing less. I personally would like to see them in the SBC just so the ULM/Tech game could be renewed. But I would also get much pleasure in LTU holding out hope that the WAC stays intact, only for it to fold in a couple of years, leaving LTU to play as an Indy because it was too stubborn to joing the SBC when it could. Only then does the SBC accept LTU back, crawling on hands and knees begging.

There is no doubt the Sunbelt has improved. However all this talk that TECH must move to the Sunbelt NOW is premature. We have no idea what will happen over the next year as to other conferences including the Sunbelt.

There is no sense in panic

I think if Memphis or ECU or UCF are taken by the Big East, then La Tech is on the short list with Troy and MTSU for CUSA. I think it all comes down to who the Big East takes. I think Troy is too close to UAB to get an invite. If Memphis leaves I think MTSU has to be the choice to lock down something in the Tenn market. If it is ECU, then I like La Tech, because I don't think Memphis lets MTSU into the party.

I would be surprised if Troy is on anyone's shortlist. They have no academic standards.

Sun Belt because that conference is also a steaming pile of monkey shite.

The SBC is crap. Having 3 shitty teams from Lousiana on it would just be more embarrassing than it already is with 2.

A Sun Belt team very recently beat Alabama and the Sun Belt's head to head record with C-USA has been pretty good recently. I don't have any numbers in front of me though.

I don't see any conference taking Troy. Sure they have a good football team but they bring nothing to the table in other sports and they're an APR exempt school.

CUSA is the best fit for Latech. Natural geographic fit, better conference, natural rivalry with Tulane.

Troy or North Texas (which is upgrading its facilities) would be more likely to make the jump from the Sun Belt than Middle Tennessee.

The SBC has gotten better over years, but could only get better b/c they were at the bottom of the barrel. I went to ULM and its hard to get up for the season b/c I know whats going to happen.

Its too hard for the little schools to recruit in LA, b/c if LSU doesnt get them another SEC team will.

Troy will not move to another conference until they improve their academics.

UNT has made some strides but they still have a lot of work to do. However, they do offer the Dallas/Fort Worth market.

I think C-USA will look to add a school or schools in major TV markets to gain sweet TV deals. This doesn't work in La Tech's favor.

I'm a LSU grad and fan, so you know where my loyalties lie, but it is always interesting seeing other state schools jockey for position as LSU's biggest threat in sports.

It has to be either Tech or ULL(though still not close), then everybody else just mouthing off.

The Davidson's backing of Tech and Ruston definitely is helping their cause though still a LONG way off.

Just an aside, both Karl Malone and Bert Jones reside there. And they are helping Tech/Ruston as well.

North Texas and MTSU are higher on the pecking order than Troy, why is everyone ignoring me about this?
