But if that happened yes they could not play Football in Div I as a Conference
That's what I said. My question is, what if the WAC can't get back to eight?

Like I was saying does paying 5 million make sense for any conference they may get asked to now?
Again that is now no longer a issue

Right, I wouldn't want anything farther than New Mexico State, you bring them back and you probably get the New Mexico Bowl tie in as well.

I'm not saying they should do anything tomorrow, but I'm saying the Sun Belt is something they should really consider if an offer is extended. Sometimes it's better to be proactive rather than reactive.
I have no problem with that. I am just saying doing it this year would be a huge mistake because we can expect some massive upheaval elsewhere
To be honest if I was Conference USA I would be hustling to extend a mass invite to all WAC schools right now. They would take it and COnf USA would truly be COnference USA

then there is not conference

I think they will get back to eight, they are talking about having teams move up to the divsion. The remaining school will vote if Fresno State and Nevada can leave for 2011 otherwise they can't leave until 2012. I am sure they add two teams by then.

The WAC is going to be destroyed, it's going to be a terrible league and Tech will be traveling such long distances for a league that will be worse than the Sun Belt.
I don't know how any LaTech fan can disagree with this.

A lot of reasonable Tech fans do agree.

Because it is too soon to say that. Let me ask you this. If the WAC is going to be destroyed then then why today then why did Utah State tirn down the the Mountain West.
The situation is too fluid and will remain fluid for the next year to say the WAC will be destroyed. If BYU stays on board well the WAC may look stronger in the end

Bayou, henderson just is salivating to drag Tech to his level, that's all this is about. Tech's not going anywhere right now and will be in the WAC unless C-USA offers.

All I'm saying is the Sun Belt makes much more sense than the WAC in turmoil. Your false bravado is clouding your judgment.

I agree we are staying in the WAC. People are acting like the WAC falls apart tomorrow. We got two years since both Fresno and Nevada missed the July 1st deadline. SO much could happen. Who knows at the end of it Fresno and Nevada might be asjing to come back
What Tech has to do since now it has so much more attention in the WAC in the last 24 hours is demand the WAC look Eastward for a couple of teams.
I have never been a WAC hater and in fact like the WAC. If we could a Texas school or two I think the Tech fan base would be happy

Keep thinkin' it. Tech is in the WAC, end of story. Your team doesn't have the balls to come to Ruston anyway, since they turned us down to take a paycheck and beating in Baton Rouge. We would've even returned that and come to Lafayette, but nooooooo.
Tech stays in the WAC, becomes the next "Boise," and plays a much better non-conference schedule than the Broncos, and busts the BCS down the road... ;) ULL keeps building mobile homes in LSU's shadow.

Thought at most BYU would play all sports for WAC but football. The article today said that today was the second straight day that BYU was not returning his calls. I can't see BYU considering the WAC now. Maybe, but highly doubtful. I think the WAC is done unless they can get some smaller division schools to move up. Montana has a good reputation for football. This could be an oppertunity for them to move up. Not sure after that though.

It might be in turmoil but it is at worst a slow boiling turmoil. Time enough to get the heat down

Like "UL", Latech is not remotely self sufficient in athletics. Instead, approximately half of its budget is "direct institutional support", i.e., taxpayer subsidy.

Well yeah BYU is up in the air. Of course the BYU fan base really wants to go Independent and the BYU folks (that were really behind the 5 million buyout) are fuming at Fresno and Nevada right now for being the Judas. So they still might not stay in the Mountain West. If we can keep BYU then well that is a solid anchor

Dude, no one's self sufficient these days. At least the majority of Tech's academic money doesn't come from taxes, like all the other public schools in the state!
LSU was propped up in every possible way to screw all the other schools' athletic programs, so there's nothing self-sufficient about that. That's just how it is and nothing can be done about that at this point, and it's not any current LSU fans' fault/problem, blah blah blah... Tech's athletic giving is obviously way better than that of UL-X though.

A good many Universities are not self sufficient. I should also remind my LSU brothers here there was time they had to go the State legislature for funds.
Regardless Sports is the window the alumni look at their former school through and the more involved they are in Sports the more they are involved in direct giving elsewhere
