And you enjoy your pretty crystal balls. The NCAA doesn't recognize either of them.
If you could only have one of them, which would you choose?

Im not sore, I just cant believe how ignorant USC fans are when you dont get your way.
And how do these discussions always end up as SC versus the entire SEC conference?

I'm kinda partial to the left one.

Ask me again in 10 years when the BCS is dissolved, playoffs are in place, and there's a brand new "Golden Trophy" that everyone will brag about.
We're the only school with two golden balls! Yeehaw!

AP or BCS title, you can only choose one, which would you prefer your team win?

What happens to the BCS in 10 years is completely irrelevant as to which title is more important to hold right NOW.
Like, completely and totally irrelevant.
You're just deflecting the question. That is the exact reason I asked, because I figured you guys wouldn't give a straight answer.
And about 3 replies in from 2 different USC guys, my thought was spot on.

It's a bit of an irrational question. It's not going to be as satisfying either way, if you only have one and not the other.
Otherwise LSU fans would be content just to have the 2003 BCS Trophy and would not be bothered that USC was awarded the AP title that season.
Likewise, I would be more content if we had kept the 2004 BCS trophy, but I am still satisfied that we are the AP Champions for that season. It helps that we only had to split it that year with VACATED and VACATED didn't win a game that season!

Lighten up, Francis. The BCS is more prestigious than the AP in my opinion, but it really isn't recognized by the NCAA, so they aren't as far apart as some folks would like to believe.
I really am satisfied with the AP Championships from 2003 and 2004, and I believe you are right to be proud of your BCS titles in 03 and 07.

I proved my point. Thanks.
It's funny because ONLY USC fans would avoid THAT question and never give an answer.
Fans of 119 other teams would tell you they'd prefer the BCS title without hesitating.
And that is fact so let's please not try to argue it.

A fluke loss vs. Stanford (Pete Carroll left JD Booty in with his broken finger and he threw 4 picks.
Yeah and that was the 1st career start for Stanford's QB who was a freshman if I remember correctly. It's funny how these "flukes" seem to happen at least once a year.

Dude, we would have totally taken you at the end of that season.
A week after TN or Arkansas? Yeah maybe. But after 4 weeks off? No.

You got beat by two unranked teams: Kentucky on the road, and Arkansas at home.
One of those teams had probably the best RB corps of the decade, heck probably the last 20 years. You guys lost as a 41pt favorite...at home. Then got spanked by Oregon. LSU lost to two bowl teams in triple OT...in a tougher conference. Common, man.

That was arguably the worst BCS Championship team to win it, and it took an incredible series of events for you to land there.
I cant see why you would see that being that they are the only championship team with 2 losses. However, they played a big chunk of the season without a fully healthy QB, their best WR missed games, and Dorsey was never the same after the chop block (I still don't think he's fully recovered from that). LSU was worn down at the end of that year.

Nobody wanted to play USC at the end of that season.
Please.

Including your loss to Stanford. Thank you very much. No one accomplished more than what LSU had that year even before the MNC game. No one. They fully deserved to be there. It was just a crazy year.

I am not saying LSU didn't deserve to be in the BCSCG, all I am saying is I believe we would have beaten you. Reasons: Better talent, better bowl team, stronger team at the end of the season.

Don't you see, it's completely relevent. Pre-BCS (hell, pre-2003) LSU fans woulda been thrilled to have the AP trophy because that's what was the end all be all. Now, LSU fans (and many others) think the AP is meaningless. And when the BCS is no more, the BCS chrystal balls will be pretty meaningless too, compared to the "new" trophy.
When the BCS is gone, and Ohio State is the first team to two "Golden Balls", I doubt fans are gonna say, "yeah those Golden Balls are nice, but I really wish we had more of those chrystal ones!"
Those "Golden Ball" fans will just say the chrystal one's are meaningless since the teams that won them only won them because they were voted as the "champ".
That's why, in answer to your question, it doesn't really matter what the trophy is composed of. The NCAA recognizes no D1A champion.
Now, if you wanna ask which trophy CASE I'd rather my school have, USC's or LSU's, I'll pick SC's. But none of those trophies are actually mine, so whatever, who cares.

But you're proving MY point here.
Just because AP titles don't mean as much post-BCS does not dillute AP titles won pre-BCS one bit. Not one bit.
So it does not matter at all what happens to the BCS in 10 years. They can dissolve and the AP can still be going strong, and the BCS title will still EASILY be the more sought after title right NOW. At least for 119 teams, that is.

Thats your opinion I guess. LSU was loaded with depth, talent & leadership that year. They were preseason #2 by most publications so they were no slouch. Yes, you were stronger......at the end of November.

Pete was a better PR guy sometimes than he was a coach. I still think he is a good guy, and a positive guy, and all that.
But after JD Booty throws the first pick, hell at LEAST after the second pick take him the FRICK out.
It was almost like PC was handicapping USC on purpose to make the game more competitive. There was absolutely no excuse for the way he coached that game.
Les just doesn't know what time it is.
But he does know that an oil spill is sincere, and that it affects, uhhh...
...the ocean.
Enjoyed the debate, time to hit the rack.
