I'll be one of few Saints fans to admit that the Falcons, at this point at least, will go into the season with a better team and should be favorites to win the division again

History does seem to repeat itself though, and for some odd reason the NFC South switches division winner every year.

@AdamSchefter:
With respect to Rams, Falcons might have Greatest Show on Turf: Steven Jackson, Roddy White, Julio Jones, Tony Gonzales & Matt Ryan.

Saints 2011 Offense > Greatest show on turf IMO

I think they were going to be the favorites in the South regardless of what any of the other teams did in the offseason.
Doesn't mean anything, but be prepared to hear Herm Edwards and company pick them on top with the possibility of Tampa Bay being 2nd.

Could it be Tampa's to lose then?

Very well could be. They are spending money to improve their team. They hit a winning streak last season, but then went to shite. I think their success will be determined on how Freeman plays.

YOU are UNDERESTIMATING how much effect having Payton on the sidelines will do fr the Saints next year.... Bushrod can/will be replaced and the Saints will be as hungry as ever to win it all. They have the Talent AND coaching staff.........

Falcons may be the slight favorite but I highly doubt they hit 13 wins again. It's going to more likely be 11 or 12 that gets the division. I see the Saints, Falcons, and one of the other 2 within 2 total games of each other.
From an article last year about the niners...that 32 win sample size was prior to 2012 season. The Saints and niners did not repeat the 13 wins last year, neither did the packers, neither did the patriots. So unless I'm off its now 3 for 36. Just hard to win that many games consistently in the NFL.

That decline doesn't happen because of the math, of course; it happens because there are simply too many things that have to go right for a team to repeatedly put up 13-3 seasons. Independent of their track record in previous years, the average 13-3 team has won an average of just 9.3 games the following year, with just three of the 32 examples maintaining their 13-win record from the previous year.

I never said the Saints will finish 3rd, I just dont wanna be the person to say "I told you so..." when the preseason predictions come out and everyone is pissed off because ESPN/NFL Network "experts" have the Saints 3rd in the South.

1st of all THEY are NOT EXPERTS..........
2nd they have a surprise coming next Jan when the SAINTS are MARCHING IN..........

Thats why I put expert in quotations. Just because you had a 12 year career doesnt mean you're an expert of the game as a whole.

I find it hilariously pathetic that PEEEEJ gets every game winner prediction wrong. He has to be one of the least educated football fans on Tigerdroppings.
