Feels like "real sports fans" want them to be something they're not. They're never going to talk about actual sports stories or teams without national appeal. They focus on popular stories and names that are recognizable to casual sports fans. It's a family-oriented sports show that plays well with corporate sponsors; they do their best not to mess it up.
Once you come to terms with all of that, they're not terrible to listen to. It's nowhere near appointment listening, but I don't mind if it's on in the background.
