Occasionally but not close to what it is today. 1987 UGA ScheduleAll P5 BTW

So you beat a P5 in Oregon State that FCS Grambling dominated by nearly 3 Touchdowns the previous season? The good old days of tough scheduling P5's?

Why not schedule 1-AA ( FCS) Georgia Southern of the late 80's ? It would have been great for the state, both state schools & far more interesting / attended match up than "P5" Oregon State.

They didn't play Gambling the year before.

Who said anything about "bragging"? WTF difference does it make anyway?

Even if you take out OSU it's still 10 P5's

Schedules are made years in advance and Southern probably didn't even have a team when it was made.UGA scheduled Southern in the early 90's (probably the soonest they could) Game was boring as shite.

No more FCS games. Its not the reason a 12th game was added.

Oh so you googled & it was 85 & not 86 like I remember Grambling dominating a precious P5. Georgia knew the the Oregon State Beavers ,dominated by Grambling twice within the past decade had been a doormat for 2 decades.

But that's the good old days beating P5's. Maybe scheduling 10- 12 years in advance is more of the problem.

I'm sure the Beavers/ Bulldogs was a snoozefest as well & Georgia expected that when scheduling.

LOL!You're the one who brought it up to prove some innocuous point.

Really don't get all your anger here.So OSU was a cupcake.WGAS?I'll take 10 outta of 11 or 11 outta 12 all day long with one cupcake. It's still a shitload better than 2 or 3 cupcakes.

So you want teams to schedule more snoozefest? Not exactly making much of a point here.

BTW,why didn't Gambling schedule
Southern back then? Woulda been a heck of a game.

Gotcha. SWAC schools are usually locked into traditional matchups so they rarely face off against other FCS teams.

SWAC has been a bad FCS conference for s whole.

Ga Southern was awesome in FCS, still think they were better off there instead of the Sun Belt. Miss seeing them in the playoffs

Always thought that was weird.

Why don't they participate in the playoffs? I believe they used to when 1 AA first started.

Bayou Classic is scheduled on the first week of the playoffs. Had a few BCF bowls. They always had reasons but I’ve always felt they avoided the playoffs because they know it would expose how bad the conference is.

I think the last SWAC school to play in the playoffs was Alcon State with Air McNair and they lost 63-20
