in fact, I'll take it a step further and say the pros should actually use the college bats now that they've been nerfed down to more wood like levels. its high past time for players and fans to no longer have to worry about shards of a broken bat flying their way now that we have the bat tech.
People would hate it but you're right, particularly with the prevalence of maple bats. Maple is harder and breaks more violently than ash.
Broken bats are one of the more realistic fan safety issues in all of sports. I'd also imagine the sponsorship money would be tremendous. If you want to swing the bat Barry Bonds used to break the single season HR record, you need to buy a maple Sam Bat. That season alone caused the surge in popularity for maple bats across the league, but that wasn't practical for the 12 year old who idolized Bonds. Now imagine if he used an Easton aluminum bat instead...

No, the bbcor bats simulate wood just fine at a fraction of the cost.

The BBCOR bats do not compress as much as wood bats do. They are deader. Wood bats have better compression, but the sweet spot is smaller.

i see more whole bats fly into the stands than i see broken bat shards...

I agree. If anything, extend the nets. Keep the wooden bats.

Yes use wood bats. I'm convinced the ugly sound of clank and clang turn people off of college baseball Plus allowing more inside pitches would make both the pitchers and batters better.
Not as many bats break as you think they do. Bill Terry the last national leaguer to bat .400 used two or three bats all season in a 154 game schedule.

I love the sound of wooden bats.

Another major issue would be availability. If you make all colleges go to wood, you've probably tripled the demand for wood bats.
Do it. Economy could use it right? jk

LOL. you're going back to the 30's? I also bet Terry had much better wood to choose from, and he went and picked out his wood for his bats.

Yes, yes and yes.
Aluminum Bats are for children.
Never understood why grown men in college use them except for fear of breaking wood bats and having to replace. If you're too poor to replace wood bats, don't fund a college baseball program.
