they used to not do that but they changed it one year when the obvious 2 best teams were on the same side. so now they rank and put 1 and 4 on the same side with 2 and 3 on the other.

That really is a crap decision.
They have been saying the west region will be the easiest, so maybe that's why they sent Syracuse there.

Nah Duke's RPI and SOS were right up there with WVU in the top 5. It was actually better I think.

It matters. You get an easier or tougher 2 seed and an easier or tougher potential 1 seed in the Final Four.
However, it's all about matchups at this point. Right now it's setup so Kentucky wouldn't have to face the 2-3 zone of Syracuse until the finals. They would have hit that zone in the Final Four is Duke is the #4 seed. Theoretically of course.

If Buckeyes and WVU really were the other options for 1 seeds then WVU should get the Syracuse bracket and Ohio State would get the Duke bracket. That would mean a potential game against Duke and the officials to get to the Final Four.
