Disagree to a point. As per the usual, Alabama nat 1’d several field goals, and then once they got tired of that and decided to go for a fourth down conversion deep into Auburn territory that would have iced the game late, they nat 1’d that as well.
In the context of this thread, though, I don’t think that game made much difference, other than preventing us from winning another SEC championship to toss on the pile with the rest. Our weakness that year was tall, fast WRs that could win one-on-one battles with our DBs, and FSU had those in spades. I don’t think we would have beaten them.

Has any coach ever won so many National Titles with 1 undefeated season? (LSU and Alabama combined)
I mean, it's unheard of in the history of the AP Poll.
ESPN and the BCS/Playoffs have given Saban what every coach in history always wanted - second chances or the eye-test or other bullshite thing ESPN thought of year after year that changed the landscape of how we decided National Champions and corrupted everything to ratings for the World Wide Leader.
Bama has 1 certain title the last 10 years, maybe 2...that's about it...under the old rules which didn't forgive coaches like Bowden or Carroll for fricking up during the regular season with a loss. Shite, Bowden would've 5 titles under Saban's rules and Carroll probably 4.

Wrong. LSU was never the controversial choice to play in that BCS title game. It was whether Oklahoma who had just lost to Kansas State in the Big 12 title game deserved it over USC who lost to unranked Cal earlier in the year.

I can't believe someone processed this and still think it was a good idea to write it.
Bama earned every single national championship because they were the best team in the country when they won it.
There has never been an undeserving national champion since the start of the BCS because even if you were a controversial choice to get there, you still had to beat the number 1 team to win it.

Are you trying to argue that Bama’s 2011 team that dominated LSU in the championship wasn’t deserving? They clearly belonged in that game as one of the best 2 teams in the country.

2003 was controversial, but NOT because LSU was in the title game. No one disputed LSU's presence in the game. The issue was whether OU (who was embarrassed in their conference championship game by KState) or USC should have been their opponent.
Because OU was the opponent, the sportswriters decided to give their trophy to USC, since in their opinion the top 2 teams never played.

You have a want for BAMA to get do overs because the national media and all of powers that be are just biased that way, but deep down they know those titles are a little tarnished.
Not worried about it anymore since LSU just had the best team and season in college football history. BAMA will never eclipse that and will have to go comfort themselves with titles they backed into and didn’t deserve.
