re: Save college sports act jammed up in Congress

It provides limited antitrust protection while at the same time it also prohibits, I believe, collusion to keep college players’ salaries down. I can tell you right now that players’ agents, attorneys, etc., are mapping out a strategy to fight this on all possible fronts. I believe the main front is collective bargaining, to get the courts to say the players are employees where this bill doesn’t.

And my .02 is that the courts as was signaled in the 9-0 USSC Supreme Court that’s operative here will find some way to favor the players.

I just hate the craven opportunism of this bill, pushed by people who except for Tuberville who’s a moron couldn’t give six s**ts about college athletics, to get votes in November from pissed off fans who think they’re the most important part of college athletics and are butthurt that the people they view as peons and the help are getting a proper share of the pie and control of their destinies, and think this bill will put them in their place and show them who’s boss.

All that is needed to “fix” college sports right now is to rein in the Wild West transfer portal contractually through collective bargaining.
