Don Chiodo, the veteran radio voice of Central Michigan football and men's basketball, died Wednesday afternoon from injuries suffered in a car accident.

Chiodo, 54, was driving on M-46 west of Saginaw when he collided with a semi-truck.

Word spread quickly throughout the Mount Pleasant campus and community, including text messages to Board of Trustees members, who are in town for a meeting scheduled for Thursday.

“I am truly devastated,” Michael Alford, CMU athletic director, said in a statement on Thursday. “Don was an important part of our athletics family and his passing is a great loss. Don was one of the fiercest advocates for all our programs and had a passion for telling the great stories of our student-athletes.”

ESPN2 just did a very nice tribute to Don Chiodo, both into a commercial break, and more out of the break. I had missed this story from earlier in the week. Sad news.

FYI. the MAC CG has been a pretty entertaining game, I have it on the small TV, but I unmuted it for the Chiodo tribute.

semi-truck.

Some of the worst drivers are behind the wheel of one of these. 70K pounds of ticking time bomb.

Caught the end of a crash, where 18 wheeler driver was texting, and plowed thru 12 cars, who were stopped in traffic. killed 4, and is going to jail for a little while. It looked like a bomb had hit the cars. He hit them at 75mph.
