the point is the risk exists

They could also get in a car accident and get injured and ruin their careers. I'm assuming they don't ever ride in cars because of this too.

this is very true. there is risk everywhere. but what myself and my fellow MSB lib bud are talking about is that its increasing the levels of unnecessary risk. i cant fault anyone who decides its worth it to play in the game. thats a personal decision that they make and they obviously believe that the fun and the moment that they get to spend with their team is worth it. i just also dont find fault with those that want to sit it out and its what i would personally do. even if i obviously will never be in that situation

But now you are seeing kids who are 3-6th rounders skip and it will only grow. It's ridiculous.
i guess im not the right person for this

cause personally i want it to get as ridiculous as possible because i have a very strong "frick the NCAA" take

Ok, so answer my OP, how many missed out on money bc of the bowl game since 2000? Very few and I'll bet you all ended up like Jaylon smith, still got life changing money.

yes, there is a risk...a very minute risk and people are over thinking it.

Hell, there were people calling for LF to sit out his last year....not bowl game...the entire year in 2016 to avoid injury.

This issue goes beyond just NCAA football though, this is the same thing as the Leveon Bell shite.

i want kids to realize that they truly hold the power in the relationship between themselves and the NCAA and its member schools and that they dont need to abide by their arbitrary rules. i understand it will never happen because i am in the minority, but i want the NCAA to die when it comes to football and mens basketball and we just go straight into a minor league

All I'm saying is, we never saw this before, not until the talking media heads started the ideas and talking points that this kid should sit out.

It's an over exaggerated fear, not by the kids/family but by the media pin heads and now the players feel they should.

I really would like to know how many players missed out on "life changing money" bc of the bowl game.. I mean, it's such a valid point and fear, there has to be evidence to back it up..."you don't want to end up like, ....fil in the blank"

i understand your point. it is rare and its ultimately really unlikely that someone will have a jaylon smith situation in one single game. my point is simply, the very existence of that risk would be enough for me to not want to play. and therefore, i see where these kids are coming from and i dont find fault in what they are doing

So just sit out your 3rd year...got it.

Or

if the team makes the playoffs and you're a 1st round lock, LIFE CHANGING MONEY..then it's worth the risk.

just get rid of the other bowls. frick it. You don't win enough to make the playoff, your season is over. Just like in every other damn sport.

As someone who liked going to bowl games, I agree. Season is over. Didn't go last season, not going this season.

But they don't? The kids need the schools just as much, if not more than the schools need the kids. The schools have other means to make money, the kids don't

thats bullshite. if tomorrow, it was announced that we were going to have a minor league that paid players, and all of the 4 and 5 stars decided to enter that league, the schools in the NCAA would take a major financial hit. these kids need the schools in the way the current system is set up. but just because the system is set up this way, doesnt mean its the way it has to be set up. the schools make money off of football and basketball because of the kids. the kids are what generate the money. the money will foilow the kids wherever they go

I can't lie I'm gonna laugh pretty hard the first time one of the bowl skippers gets injured in a wacky accident

The fact is that there isn't such a league. The kids don't have the leverage.

but they have the capability to hold the leverage. thats my point. i want us to get there. doesnt mean we ever will, but that also doesnt mean we cant

I get that, but until the mythical league is created the leverage doesn't exist.
