the expansion is such a poor idea.

for all we know the format could be expanded even further in 10 more years.

It's like nothing is ever good enough.

Only reason to do this is to get to make more money!

The problem with expanded playoffs is all you do is shift the excitement down the polls from the great teams to the good teams. In this format the top teams punch their ticket weeks ahead.

Baseball’s expanded playoffs are the worst offender of this. You still have playoff races. But they are between teams 5-8 instead of 1-5. And the eventual championship game is worse for it.

The late era BCS had ir right. There was nothing wrong. We would be having Georgia v Michigan this year and it would be awesome and the bowl games would still be relevant. Nobody in the world wants to see 9 shitty teams playing each other, only to get massively blown out by the the two teams that should have been in anyway.... Especially at the ruin of the CFB regular season, whichbis soundly the best and most meaningful in all of N American sports. They have officially killed a once truly great spectacle.

Nope. Bookmarked.

12 is too many when we have blowouts with only 4

1/4 of the 14-point+ wins were by 3/4 seeds in the semifinals.

With the Rose Bowl hosting the semis after the 2023 season and the expanded playoff starting with the 2024 season, the Granddaddy on Jan. 2, 2023 will be the last traditional P12-B10 matchup

I just don’t get all the hand wringing about expanding the playoff. The regular season still matters even for the great and good teams. The great teams can’t slip up or they lose the bye and the good teams can’t slip up at the end of the year or they lose the home game. In the last 3 weeks or so of the season you will be paying attention to a lot more games that could affect your team.

It should be Georgia-Michigan, Conference Championship games are dead and just a reason to penalize the participants and reward those sitting at home.

The playoff was the regular season...we don't need 9-3 Oregon State in the playoffs like Fresno State in College baseball and win it all...where they lost 31 games during the regular season.

The only special thing about CFB that is different from every other sport...

Is the regular season is the playoffs. Games matter. Change that to a 12-team playoff...shite, why watch the regular season? The usual suspects will all be there at the end. Might as well just put the preseason poll into the playoffs from week 1.

Those first round games have a potential to to a weather disaster, the potential slate for this year not so much except for Penn St.

In the future game in Mich, Mich St., PSU, Wisconsin or the Pacific NW could be brutal for traveling teams. But it would be interesting.

Thanks I hate it

CFB regular season is the greatest thing in sports. The high wire act that it is can't be found anywhere else in sports. Every playoff expansion only diminishes that.

So 4 loss teams who didn't even win their conference would make it.

I like more playoff teams bc it will keep a ton more fans invested in their team and other games all the way to thanksgiving. It will also give us potentially awesome CFB playoff games in college stadiums.

On the flip side, I can see how it would suck really bad this year as a Georgia or Michigan fan if you lost in the title game to Tennessee or ohio state, respectively, considering you had just beat them a month or two prior.
