Agree. He is making a mockery of the game and MLB is letting him. I don’t watch major-league baseball but I know the guys name and I have seen how awful he is. Why do They let him continue to get away with this?

Umpires have improved over the past decade or so thanks to modern evaluation practices, and they haven’t gotten much credit for it (public perception, ironically, is probably to the opposite effect since our TVs show us a much better picture now, exposing new flaws to us). They have improved overall and they get as much or more shite for their mistakes, so they’re kind of fighting back.

That’s my theory.

Closer than you think. A lot of breaking balls nick the front of the strike zone and even hit the dirt in front of the catcher. These are strikes that are almost always called as balls. This is kinda why robot umpires are a bad idea. You wouldn’t believe how many balls like that are actually strikes called balls; if robots called them “correctly,” the robots would be replaced by humans before July.

Hitter would have to adjust. A perfectly called strike zone would improve hitters ability to hit if they know exactly what will be called a strike.

If pitchers learn to make pitches a strike that are nearly unhittable, amend the strike zone to the middle of the plate.

I'm with you, but progressing toward this utopia would involve radical change in the short run that wouldn't be good for baseball in the long run.

Anyone who supports unions is clearly not a sports fan of any kind.

Without the success of the baseball players union, we wouldn’t have access to so much baseball on tv.

GOAT shitty ump:

Dude it's Little League...they don't want pitchers walking everyone...strike zone is basically from your head to your toes.

Plus, they give you the Greg Maddux -

Strike zone. Doesn't matter if your bat can't reach the ball, if your catcher frames it, it's an Atlanta strike.

Without the success of the umpires union, we wouldn’t have power tripping asshats with absolute authority and no accountability whatsoever. I get it, it’s a give and take thing, but I’ll always be on the side that doesn’t give people the “right” to keep a job that they are clearly terrible at.

There’s only like 3 bad MLB umpires.

3 more than there should be. And be level of bad that they are at is completely unacceptable. And in the case of Kulpa, it’s beyond balls and strikes. It’s complete disrespect for the game and his role on the field.

Damn it, I’m being trolled aren’t I?

No.

Umpires have gotten better year after year, and the umpires union has played a part in it.

Looked like a foul tip to me, not a direct hit!

There needs to be a system where mlb umps get sent down to burb little leagues to do deal with some a-hole dad that’s even more of a failed baseball player

that wouldn't work. Those dads don't watch enough MLB to know who the umps are

Holy smokes.... get to bash Eric Gregg twice in a week or so here after not hearing his name in years. EG you suck (RIP).

Mea culpa ... but don’t know the other guy. Don’t follow as closely as I once did.
