He's before my time but many old timers told me he was the best player they ever saw from this area.
The FB details are in the middle of the obit.

He was a good one. We had a few good players from the S-BC area.
Jim Harris - OU QB 1954-1956 and played for Dallas for a little bit. Wasn't from Shreveport, but moved here and lived on Cross Lake.
Bradshaw - of course
and my personal favorite...
He was a few years older than my dad, but would always play basketball with dad and his friends growing up.

Delaney was great. There's a pic of him at Haughton HS but someone told me the cement slab memorializing him on campus has been in disrepair. Don't know if that's true. I rarely go to Haughton.

Dick Gay!
Yep. But in his day 'Gay' meant happy!

The pic and jersey are still there in the gym, saw them not too long ago at some deal for my little brother. The city owns Joe Delaney field next to the high school, which is where the memorial is. There were several plans to fix it but the city never go around to doing it. I believe the school and the city have the funds lined up and a plan to redo it though.
